that's right ash ock. if you withdrew the funds the bank will take your account into overdraft once they establish the cheque is fake, and will charge you a ridiculous interest rate on it as its unsecured together with other ridiculous charges. so it does not help. the cheque was from KCB for your info - conmen normally like to use the large banks with a lot of bureaucracy. that way it takes longer to establish the authenticity of the cheques. also the large banks are so busy with volume banking they don't have time to deal with issues of fraud and it ends up in a file that goes into archives. its good to share info on a forum like this to ensure no one else gets conned.

@pops, do I know you? Exact same scenario happened to my uncle three months ago. The case is still being handled by the CID but the chaps/thieves have gone under!

I reported to the CID and they politely requested for a small gift of 5000/- to pursue the matter and track them through mobile phone. i gave them the amount and nothing came out of it. I was told that the phones are off and they have another lead for which another 5000/- is required. so I have just given up. I have already lost enough money and don't have more money to feed our corrupt police force who should be helping us because of the taxes we pay them!

Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

I like this forum because of the real life information that someone gets. I hope we should be naming these organisations here so that someone can be alert and conscious when dealing with them.I understand that there is a lot of conmen in society who give you good deals.this deals are so good such that you take more risk than you can afford to lose. fellow wazuan I learn that due dilligence is neccesary.
