Cabbages and carrots. If you have a grinder it will be better. Non acidic fruits will be great too.

I have had ulcers for years now, maybe 20yrs, usually it's trigged by anything, I have my own triggers and she will probably have her own, they heal after a couple of days then come back when you get intouch with the triggers, so she has to just understand her triggers and stay away from them and also get over the counter anti-acids and if she is in pain there are prescription she can take for a couple of days and the ulcers will go away.

I hope she had a proper OGD done (they pass a tube down the food pipe and take pictures of the stomach; and cut samples for the lab too). A 70 year old lady with a recent 6 year history of dyspepsia might be chronic gastritis which leads to a tumour in the stomach. Anyway, it is not so much what to eat or not to eat, being on a drug that lowers acidity levels in the tummy is the most beneficial approach. Say a PPI for 3 months continuously with or without antacids. "Occasionally I drop a tea cup to shatter on the floor. On purpose. I am not satisfied when it does not gather itself up again. Someday perhaps that cup will come together."

Mokiri, kysse?? I assume that is me? Buy FIDO jars (at Nakumatt), Juice cabbages. One jar put the cabbage juice The other put the pulp + filtered water + Salt (1 1/2 tablespoon per liter of water) Himalayan salt is best. Let the juice sit/ferment for 3 days. Then let her drink, morning noon and night time AND whenever she gets the tummy pains. Let the pulp ferment for a month. Suture and eat a small potion before all meals. Buy enough jars to ensure continuity of the process. Clean up her diet (A long topic,if you want me to get into it) IF SHE STILL HAS ULCERS AFTER TWO WEEKS OF THIS, COME HERE AND CALL ME A CHARLATAN.

Thanks, @Mukiri. One concern i have with vegetables esp in urban areas is the high quality of foliar fertilizers and insecticides used as sprays which end up in the human food chain. Unless the vegetables are naturally grown, someone might come back and call you a charlatan by default. There is an organic mkt somewhere in Karen and might be a good source of vegetable esp for the raw vegans. Personally, i take raw diets, but sometimes when in doubt, i boil just to be safe! Wazuans learn to read. What NOT to eat? Read red text (As she was advised) What TO eat? Read blue text (What she already knows) Problem solved. But if I were to assume the problem like all of you, I would bet on @Mukiri (putting money/ reputation where the mouth is) Pesa Nane plans to be shilingi when he grows up.

Of utmost importance is to identify the cause of the ulcers with a view to addressing the same. For instance, could it be that due to her age she's on some painkillers to address the ever present aches and pains that come with age? Some of these painkillers, commonly known as NSAIDs, frequently manifest this as a side effect on prolonged (mis)use. Another cause of ulcers could be an infection by the bacteria Helicobacter pylori. A simple lab test can be done to identify this. The infection is perfectly treatable with a cocktail of drugs. Obviously, diet modification is important to minimize gastric irritation, mainly by avoiding acidic (and other gastric irritant) foods such as citrus fruits, carbonated beverages, pineapples, passion fruits, heavily spiced foods, etc. Additionally, she should never ever miss a meal. If for whatever reason she cannot have her meals at regular times (e.g when travelling), then she should always have a glass of milk. As someone has alluded up there, you may wanna consider an OGD if the ailment persists. Current guidelines recommend that if a patient treated on two previous occasions for ulcers comes again with what presents as the same on the third visit, then OGD be done prior to initiating treatment. Reason being that often times, cancer of the stomach can present as chronic ulcers only for one to realize when it's too late. I speak from experience here, I lost my grandpa - my absolute most favorite old man in this world - at the young age of 63 to carcinoma of the stomach fundus which had been treated as ulcers for far too long. So, kindly, please follow up on your mum's progress, honor all her clinic appointments and be very interested in her treatment outcomes. That said, I wish her quick recovery. Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

Its my prayer that the drugs you refer to are from the Professor you'd mentioned. Natural and made from Bananas. Not the killer combo of antibiotics. Destroying all the internal flora a poor granny has. @Rollins, my post was on assumption that the Ulcer diagnosis was because of 'H Pylori' @Gathige, Thank you for that. Its a sad state of affairs that farming in Kenya is not regulated, and farmers get away with spraying all sorts of toxins on crops. Organic is the way to go. The Organic farmers market in Karen is at Purdy Arms restaurant, on Saturdays. It was unfortunate when the Saturday one in Hurlingham closed shop.
