A friend of mine has a Schwannoma and has been quoted 800,000/- for removal. Are there any medics or people with experience who know of a cheaper option? In a place where thought is abandoned, freedom can become a curse.

Neurosurgical procedures are very expensive. The surgeries are technically challenging and there are few neurosurgeons. Only advice is get a second opinion.

There have been 3 so far, Kijabe, MP Shah and Aga Khan but another wouldn't hurt. Any contacts of a good specialist? In a place where thought is abandoned, freedom can become a curse.

There are about 12 or so neuro-surgeons in Kenya. A friend to my neighbour had successful brain surgery this month at KNH for a large 5cm tumour. Now going for chemo. Pick any one from below: 1. Dr P. K. Wanyoike KNH, Nairobi 2. Prof Nimrod Mwang'ombe KNH, Nairobi 3. Dr Kiboi, Julius Dinesh Chandaria Medical Centre, Shivachi Road, Nairobi 4. Dr. Qureshi Aga Khan Hospital Plaza, Nairobi 5. Dr Musau, Christopher The Nairobi Hospital Doctors Plaza, Argwings Kodhek Road, Nairobi Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

There's a con man impersonating this neurosurgeon He sells/rents houses and has contacts in the dailies. He almost conned me but I outwitted him.

With due respect to our doctors but for such cases I recommend India. They have more experience than we do, necessary equipment and above all pocket friendly. That quote could reduce to 500k airfare included. All the best and good luck.God bless. There are many experienced neurosurgeons in Kenya. Why can't you have pride in what is your own instead of rushing to India. This is a decision of life and death. Do not try to take the cheapest option. Just get a second opinion.

Wachana na India. Agreed. However, technology? whereas in india you might not necessarily be opened up, in Kenya...you most likely might be opened up.

Those costs they quote are ridiculously suspect. Plus, their nursing care is poor and most patients return with post operative complications. I would rather have my treatment here anyday. A friend when to india for training and was shocked that some of these centres dont even use international treatment protocols Peace in our Homeland.

She finally went with Aga Khan who quoted about 800k and will operate with 400k deposit. India was more expensive. In a place where thought is abandoned, freedom can become a curse.
