proposing domestic tourism as a substitute of international tourism is a not so bright idea,
Clearly presented by someone who doesn't know how trade works

the reason we need the tourists is because they pay in foreign currency, we NEED foreign currency because we need to pay foreign suppliers for things we consume that are not produced locally, notably petroleum and electronics.
How is domestic tourism a substitute for this !!?

Substitute is the wrong word. But it's simply an ignored complement.

Ok... So the fact is Kenyan soldiers are dying in Somalia to protect Western interests in Kenya??

Is it the same Western interests that are being evacuated and downsized as a result of the same same war?? Irony nayo... smile

Before 2011 invasion Kenyans only had to worry about terror when standing next to an American or eating at an Israeli hotel!

After 2011 invasion Mama mboga now gets blown up at the soko, gets blown up in the matatu, gets shot down as she prays, and gets blown up again as she gets a bite at the local food joint! Sad

And then some high and mighty in Jubilee is telling us about domestic tourism... Unfortunately we are too busy getting blown up!

Stability in Somalia is important for the entire region especially Kenya. Endelea kuwika but KDF is not going anywhere until you are all neutralized. how many of your kasins and grenades were destroyed over the weekend? do you have the count yet or still counting?

Uhuru constantly flashing his middle finger at the west is costing Kenya dearly. Like it or not, Kenya needs the west. Its not just tourism. Kenya needs Europe as a market for some of its products. This Uhuru is driving Kenya's economy into a ditch. If he thinks Chinese tourists will start coming to Kenya in droves he is mistaken. To begin with there is the language barrier and a vast cultural barrier.

We keep wasting opportunities because of such pointless pride. No wonder Ethiopia passed Kenya as East Africa's largest economy. They do not participate in such nonsense.

Ethiopia Ethiopia, look at the details, locals have lost land to the Karutiris and Co because they were given for free, But actually they might be among the leaders in the world in leather industry but the industry is being controlled by the chinese so some rivers look like those mitaros in Industrial area flowing with polluted water.
Its like our own Naivasha

Jubilee in it's infinite wisdom! This is a good initiative as Chinese tourists are normally allergic to terrorist attacks and grenades. And they dont read travel advisories, or do they?
They can come and harvest our elephant tasks. And take 'hawking' to a whole new level like they did in Nigeria.

Can the cute CS Kandie shrewedly tells us projected tourist numbers and corresponding revenues expected from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India etc?

@Washiku what you don't understand is that this chest thumping by jubilants that Walker has told off the west aint helping anything. Kibaki also faced the East but it never came to this. The Chinese do major business with the western world, they must be laughing silly how they got some baboons who abuse the west coz they are doing business with China.....schipid!!!!!

YES, diversification is the word I was waiting to hear. It's high time we diversify, I just hope we'll find some oil in Turkana, otherwise, tourism is making us overtly dependent on our "BIG BROTHERS".
