"In a rare departure from norm, where stakeholders for fear of repercussions prefer NOT to have their names mentioned when commenting on current affairs in Kenya – and elsewhere in East Africa too – has Jake Grieves Cook, one of Kenya’s most respected senior industry leaders broken his silence and gave his read on the current situation.

Jake did also mention that his company took a serious financial hit, as did others too, as they had to absorb the VAT being loaded on to tourism services with no notice last year as contract claused did not permit them to pass on the added charges to prebooked and prepaid clients. Inspite of such government created obstacles did he however find prebookings strong and solid for his camps, a sign in his opinion that Kenya indeed still got what it takes and that clients continue to book quality safari services regardless of the British stink bomb of an anti-travel advisory.

Find below the entire uncensored text of his mail which was just received some fifteen minutes ago:"

Britain is behaving like a 'jilted lover' my fear is that they might even plant something just to prove their point.

Economic Sabotage!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

This is painful and rather unfortunate. The economy will suffer. People will lose jobs. Kids will drop out of school etc. etc.

We need all friends we can get. We cannot exist as an island. We need partnerships - economic, security etc.

But what we cannot do is give in imperialism by any country!!! Anyone who tries it can go to hell!

Of course we can't eat patriotism and independence but we also can't prostitute ourselves to any country as some would have do to 'eat'.

Even an uneducated villager with self respect will not let you run his house - when he should eat, land, sleep; who should visit; friends he should have etc. - just because you give him some maize and beans [while getting all that is valuable from his farm for a song]. He will tell you to go to hell!!!

Why are we crying and we said we can do without them?i thot we didnt need their money when we were openly mocking them, let china bring tourists. Those who were saying that are multi billionaires so the common mwananchi will always face the consequences of their choices...iam not a politician so my comment is not inclined to any person however i hope we voted in a neutral man like mudavadi because however you may want to defend this gvt,its not world friendly, they pretent to be friends to us but do the opposite and this is diplomacy they will never come out open.lets prepare the worst is yet to come.

Tanzania is the biggest beneficially of the problems in Kenya. Zanzibar beach hotels and Serengeti safari lodges and tented camps reporting booming business. Charter flights to Zanzibar have increased. Tourists can get a similar product in TZ..... minus the terror.

Tanzania is about to be announced the biggest e.africas economy, with their politics being more stable and a neutral stand btw the east and west but friendly more to west, they can only overtake kenya, what our leaders failed to look is where our money comes from, china will ruin us as they are the only beneficiaries with loan interests, counterfeit goods dumping to kenya and fat contracts, what kenya can export to china is may be dogs.
