What is security?

The government on the other hand can't do much on its own especially because it has neither extensive capital nor market control.
In my opinion, the questions of who, what, why. . . can only be answered by 'the capitalist system' which creates the conflicts we are experiencing. And as such, is the real enemy. Brother, so you are saying the present antagonistic conflict-inducing capitalist system needs to be replaced by another, different and new system if there is to be peace, security, harmony, oneness, unity, love, in the world? I am of the opinion that the neutering of the real enemy - the present capitalistic system - will only be worse for us and bring trouble such as have never been since the earth was created! Yet, lets get it over and done with! I hold on to hope but our ways(local and global) betray us.The love of money,materialism,egocentrism....in the end greed(and its various expressions) gets them all. Man! Do you know today I meant to put up a post asking where you guys have gone? I only remembered after seeing this! Where have you been? I do notice when you are not around, and brother too! Reflecting in motion.

Rahatupu, your post should be bookmarked. @Rahatupu I read the last story and started wondering why it wasn't the most important news of the day. When you say that his friend also went the same way, it doesn't take a genius to start suspecting that there are other hands at work. But we are supposed to shut up and believe that 5 makangas aided and abetted terrorists because they did not check the bags. Last time I looked, the police themselves did not believe their own dog when it said that there was no bomb. What is a makanga supposed to do? Then the DP goes ahead and issues a statement that the suspects in Mwembe Tayari were the bombers. Yet the police report indicates otherwise. He also says that suspects should never get bail or bond. He neglects the fact that he himself is in Kenya because he is out on bail. We are just not serious. We seriously don't even know who is bombing us. According to murchr and his league of nyumba kumi, we are being bombed because makangas are not checking handbags. That when you get a PSV license you should also become a bomb expert. We are not serious. At this rate I can say that the most arrests that have happened have been the number of times Robert Alai has been arrested for "abusing" someone. I'm even afraid of posting here anymore. I may just be called a terrorist sympathizer. After all, I should have told them that I saw the terrorist walk into chicken inn to buy a bag of chips. Just because he looked walalo and was called Abdi. So since the makangas can't know who are terrorists, is this why they have started denying somalis entry into their vehicles? Is this gov't now telling Kenyans that being bigoted and small minded is good for the country? But if they don't they will be arrested and given 5MILLION bond. Even the suspected terrorists like makaburi were given less. Choices really do have consequences. Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. The Lord is the only way to stop the hurt.

Choices really do have consequences. . @Alma, IMHO security priority should be: 1. Get a competent, experienced trouble shooter leadership at Interior Ministry. Preferably one with military experience. 2. Revamp our intel outfit by replacing the top guys. Give them execution mandate by arming them and letting them operate like other agencies world wide. 3. Raise operational capacity of security agencies in anti terror response, give priority to pre-emptive action by nipping all known or suspected threats before they happen. Revamp organizational structure and architecture of the security sector as a long term strategy, with key pillars being effective intelligence based policing. 4. Go full throttle for leadership of the enemy, their sympathisers, financiers, operatives, experts, recruiters, redicalizers, spiritual leadership etc. By this I mean neutralize them by whatever means necessary. 5. End reactionary responses including nyumba 10 and usalama and build bridges between communities that agents of terror exploit. Somalis and Muslims must be partners in this endeavour.

Commendation to those Kenyans who have alerted authorities on various suspicious items being found in different public places and those that have laid down their lives or risked injury like those in Malindi and Mombasa working to fight the scourge of terror.

Reflecting in motion. And also in security? Which are those websites? Yes.I agree with most of the comments here.Nyumba kumi plan and punishing makangas doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense to push blame on the citizens and punishing them discriminatingly. We'll be left terrorized from all sides and incapacitated to even find solutions. What next?Divided, distrustful, hateful, vengeful and fearful.I reiterate what has been stated but isn't that what an enemy would want? I don't know which websites but what is evident is Kenyans want peace, they want dialogue(and understanding) and ultimately they want solutions. If we've messed up we should face it not 'handle' it with rhetoric and force. If we are one let it be seen if we're not let it be known.
