Watching Labour Day celebrations in Kenya (kbc) and Uganda (ubc) and there are stark differences.

Venue, Kenya - the capital city Uganda - a remote town
Guest of honour, Kenya - a cabinet Secretary Uganda - the president
Displays, Kenya - services (watchmen, domestic workers) Uganda - goods produced

I wonder whether this year's celebration was about workers or about praising Atwoli...

Anyway, away from Atwoli issues, I wish this day would be made more relevant to the worker. COTU should be spending money on this day to empower the workers, to increase their general welfare, not just to politic. Most of the COTU workers are in the cadre that lacks access to basic services that affect workers welfare, and thus I would wish to see on the ground tents where workers are getting advise on how to save, Microfinance options, free basic medical check up/screening on things like diabetes, TB, HIV, Cancer etc. COTU should be able to mobilise very many corporates to offer such services to those workers for free. Eg Since a thorough medical check up is recommended once a year, and these celebrations happen once a year, then this could be a very critical day for workers to stream to Uhuru park not to give a forum to politicians to enjoy them but to get some basic issues that would make their lives better sorted.

1.What kind of bogus choirs are these???
2.Why cant they make it more of a trade display/discussion as opposed to making it sound like a Moi era celebration?
3.Is this event for "ma-wakas" ama its a political event?

You now understand why Kibaki never had kind words for Atwoli. It has become an Atwoli day including using a child to fight Atwoli and Kazungu's fight. Very very bad if you ask me.

Sonko must have given out 1 Mio by now.

All songs in praise of Hon Atwoli. Is he entitled to the title Hon? Just asking sina shida nayo.

Then some misuse of a young gal there to tell Waziri Kambi Off over PUSETU.

An observation :CORD seems to be over-represented especially by Mpigs from Western.
