Is aviation and security technology over-hyped?
But ofcourse how can such a blander happen in this day where we have gps in everything? But un professionalism in the aviation sector is common in North America in 2011 an Egypt Air plane almost crushed headon with a Lufthansa plane at JFKIA while taxing..the Egypt air plane took a wrong turn on instructions by the air traffic controller. They stopped the two planes but the Lufthansa plane got damaged. Anyway this is a KQ thread
JFK has hundreds of flights per day. Possibly 1,000+ [includes takeoffs + landings and I am sure there are stats somewhere] and I have a feeling that JFK has more flights in a month than Dar+ JKIA has in a year. There was a great article about the over-worked Air Traffic Controllers at JFK. Back to KQ... Let's hope for no more mishaps. They need every plane in the air!
VVS its nothing to do with being overworked bla bla, its simply incompetence. When planes taxi on the run ways they are led by several people who use a pre determined routes. In large airports the controllers man certain routes and almost everything is automated, infact they find it so boring that several have been caught asleep leading to planes landing without them.
