Why the vitriol on our beloved Chelsea. Football like life requires dynamism. One great formula is no panacea for all situations. Pep was caught out again, his teams just like Arsenal,Mike Tyson and lately liverpool have one formula which is great for neutral purists but men when one is partisan you want to see the team adapting to conditions and changing wherever the script is not working. Real did that last night, Chelsea did that over the weekend....Certainly tonight could be another tactical battle of wits and versatility. Bayern paid dearly for not being versatile they way they were undone was spectacular.

He knows nothing about free flowing football that's why he's been struggling against the smaller/weaker teams. As Brendan Rodgers said after the L'pool game, its not difficult for a coach to play defensive football and get results. Unlike other managers, Mourinho has been successful in that because he invests so much on defensive players. Remember this headline when Chelsea played Arsenal at the Emirates "Jose Mourinho has suggested it would be ‘easy’ to beat Arsenal 1-0 if it weren’t for the brand of top-quality football demanded by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich."

So now it seems Brendan Rogers is the guru of football strategy & tactics on Wazua. Hmmmmmmm, hope this doesn't burst your fragile bubbles: Jose Mourinho claimed vindication last night for his tactics at Anfield as he revealed that the Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, had called him on Tuesday to admit his approach was right. After Sunday’s game, Rodgers had scorned Mourinho’s approach as “easy to coach” but on Tuesday he congratulated the Chelsea manager, who said that Sunday’s disagreement had been forgotten, and that tactics that were not pragmatic were “stupid”. “Brendan is a manager and is somebody I consider my friend,” Mourinho said at his press conference before Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final with Atletico Madrid. “Of course I know his words after the match, but I also know his words today, and today he told me congratulations for a great victory and a great performance. Because I consider him a friend and someone I like, I prefer to forget the words after the match and I keep today’s word. He’s an intelligent guy. He watched the match for sure on video and, now, I think he understood what happened.”

Chelsea and Real have the same approach - sit back and counter when a chance presents itself, the only difference being Ronaldo

@Kularaha.....The Real Vs Bayern game was anything but boring...pace, direct play and precision prevailed on the night not defensive tactics! CR7 and Bale were fantastic, they exposed Bayern's frail defense. Dante and Boateng could not keep up with the pacey attackers. Good display by Real!
Ati Rodgers called to congratulate him on his tactics afterwards....that's typical Mourinho!
@Nakujua.....In terms of chance creation, Real Madrid lead the way in La Liga but defensively they are not really that good. In majority of their games they use only one defensive midfielder to protect the defenders. They don't set-up their squad to defend or sit back. Btw they might have a problem in the final with Alonso suspended.

UCL this season has taught us that park the bus is better than tiki taka, counter attack better than possession football!!!! ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".

Real played better than Bayern by far. Bales pass was sublime! what else do you want. In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins - cash and experience. In two semi finals in in two consecutive seasons the tiki taka has been cruelly exposed(7-0,5-0). Pep must look for a plan B. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt... -Mark Twain

Bayern will raid Arsenal and Dortmund for defensive reinforcements viz Koscielny and Mats Humells. Truth forever on the scaffold Wrong forever on the throne (James Russell Rowell)

@Angelica _ann.....I think you probably misunderstood me, i really enjoyed last night's game....Real were fantastic from the back to the front. What i'm disputing is an attempt by some Chelsea fans to compare Real's tactics to Mourinho's. On one hand you have a team which sits back for almost 90 minutes waiting to capitalize on one single mistake and on the other you have a team with flair that defends and attacks well throughout the match. I actually think Real could have scored more given the chances the created. "In the late stages of leagues and cup competitions it's about winning or getting through the tie and he's (Mourinho) as good as anyone at doing that, even if the style of football might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, I laugh when I hear people talk about "tactical genius" because that's absolute tosh. I agree with Brendan Rodgers when he says that the tactics Mourinho has employed in the last two matches are the simplest way to play. It's not hard to set up a back four that doesn't go anywhere and a midfield in front of them not going anywhere and look to catch your opponents on the break or from a set-piece - but where Mourinho deserves all the credit in the world is the fact that he has top, top players buying into that approach." Graeme Souness - Good article on Mou's tactics! http://www1.skysports.co...more-of-the-same-tactics

Chelsea are the third highest scoring team in epl, so they have done their attacking bit considering they do not have a goal scoring machine aka ronaldo - its just that mr. Mourinho attracts extremes as concerning his antics.
