I think it will be Chelsea - Bayern in the finals.

BBI will solve it

all combination will just be boring with one team defending deeply in their half and the other stringing useless passes around the 18 yard box.

I thought the madrid - bayern game would be interesting, but for a neutral it was a bore-fest.

Poor Bayern, Pep has turned them into clowns juggling balls without any real target.

Well done Real...now finish them off!!

I was 100% wrong that Bayern would get an away goal.

@Kula Raha, Ancelotti deployed Mourinho's tactics but ensured they had opportunities for the counter, albeit playing at home.

After sometime Bayern got tired having tried everything from crosses to shots to whatever, and Madrid possession improved.

This is what German papers thought of Pep's tactics...

http://espnfc.com/news/s...-vs-real-madrid?cc=3888

Personally I think Bayern can overturn the result but they'll be open for the same counters as they press for that 2 goal margin.

These semis are the hardest I've ever seen and right now the ties are both open.

It seems there's only tactic to employ when you're playing against a Pep team, wand while guys maybe bored by the tiki taka, it just shows how teams fear being exposed that they'd rather sit back and hope to hit you back. At least Bayern have options of crosses etc unlike Barca who wanted to pass the ball all the way to the goal, and had players to do so.

Poor Bayern???? I think their biggest problem right now is complacency....they've been sluggish from the time they wrapped up the league title not just in Europe but in the Bundesliga as well.

Bayern have to score at least 2 goals to win it outright and Madrid may not be able to defend for 90 minutes. May the best team win.

Secretly but regrettably, I'm hoping Ancelotti is fired after only winning the Copa Del Rey and is therefore available for Man Utd. I think he's a great coach. But I think Madrid will give him another season even if he doesn't win the coveted "Decima"

@Kularaha.....Atletico have the best defensive record in both La Liga and the Champions League, they can easily decide to park the bus at Stamford bridge after all its Chelsea who need to score! Chelsea will have to come out and attack the Spaniards, parking the bus will not work this time na hapo ndio naona mtapata habari! This match could be decided by penalties.

Bayern must have been doing something right after all they are in the last 4. I would not write them off yet.

I like this ; Chelsea meet their match in packing the bus.

My point is that both Chelsea and Atletico cannot afford to park the bus unless they are willing to gamble on penalties........Atletico as the away side we'll be under no pressure to attack at Stamford bridge unless Chelsea get a goal. Simeone's men can very easily beat Mourinho at his own game, one goal will make Chelsea panic.

"It is one thing defending stoutly at home in the first leg of a Champions League tie before attempting to nick the second, it is another thing altogether to attempt the pattern in reverse. Atletico will be far more comfortable in the atmosphere of the second leg when the onus, however more slightly, will be on Chelsea to come out and play. Diego Simeone's chief strengths are not those passes at the edge of the area, probing for that one golden chance like Bayern Munich or Barcelona. They enjoy being on the other end of that, soaking up pressure in their well-drilled back four before hitting with the promptness and accuracy of their midfield work."

So many theories about tomorrow. Lets be patient and wait and see what Mourinho has concocted for Simeone and his divers...just have a feeling it will be an interesting game.

But I'm sure the game plan is penalties...

I whole heartedly agree with this point. The beauty of the CL is that they're as unpredictable as they come. An early red card or penalty can change the entire frame of a game.

As a neutral, all I can hope for is entertaining football. But these are the most tactically challenging semis I've seen in a while

Some facts courtesy of yahoo sports:

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 16 clashes with Spanish sides in the Champions League (W6 D10), with their last defeat coming against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in February 2006.

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have met four times previously, three times in the Champions League and once in the European Super Cup; both teams have won once along with two draws.

Chelsea are unbeaten against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League (W1 D2); having met in the 2009/10 Group Stages before their 0-0 draw in the first leg of this tie.

Atletico have travelled to England nine times previously in European competition (excluding qualifiers); winning only once (at Leicester City in September 1997, D4 L4).

Atletico Madrid have reached the semi-finals of the European Cup/Champions League for the first time since 1974 when they eventually lost in the final against Bayern Munich after a replay.

45% of Atletico’s goals in the Champions League this season have been scored in the opening and closing 15 minutes of games (10 out of 22).

Atletico Madrid are the only team unbeaten in the Champions League this season (eight wins, three draws).

Chelsea have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League for the seventh time since 2003/04, the joint-highest tally with Barcelona in that time.

Chelsea have only lost one of their last 11 Champions League matches in the knockout stages (1-3 v PSG in this season’s quarter finals first leg).

61% of Chelsea’s goals in the Champions League this season have been scored in the first-half (11 out of 18).

86% of goals conceded by Chelsea in the Champions League this season have come in the second-half (6 out of 7).

Diego Costa has scored seven goals in seven Champions League games (one assist).

This is the eighth time in 10 full seasons as manager that José Mourinho has reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. It’s the third time with Chelsea after 2005 and 2007; however, he’s never made it to the final with the Blues.

Chelsea have never lost a semi-final leg in any European competition at home (W8 D4; in any of Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners Cup and Fairs Cup).

Chelsea have won their last five Champions League knockout matches at Stamford Bridge, keeping a clean sheet in the last three of these.

Chelsea managed just five shots (inc. blocked) in the first leg. They have only attempted fewer in one CL game this season (one v Basle on 26/11/2013).

MATCH ODDS

Chelsea 13/10, Atletico Madrid 5/2, Draw 23/10.
