Lest we forget Arsenal won the last trophy playing a 9-1 system. Only D.Bergkamp was upfront and registered one shot on target but still won on penalties.

Brendan Rogers should have known the tactics Mourinho was going to employ and play for a draw. Instead he went for all out attack. The slip by Gerrard changed the entire game, at nil nil maybe things would have changed. I feel nothing for Gerrard when I remember the very deliberate back pass he gave to Drogba to all but guarantee Chelsea the title...nkt! He'll never forgive himself if they don't win this time because they had it in their hands after they beat City. Anyway, this is the beauty of the premier league. The kop will now have to wait for a favour from Everton. If City beat Everton I'm sure they'll win the league, they can't throw it away again.

We were happy to see the old United albeit poor opposition. The surgery in the summer must be done, even if we win our last remaining 3 games.Giggs is not the answer.

Let's see if Arsenal will make 4th spot race even more interesting today....hehe

If Arsenal win today and Mancity beat Everton on Sato, the remaining matches will be dead rubber for the Gunners

Love him or hate him, he know the game better than all of us!

As for the Diving club, looks like the pool was very cold today: no fake reds earned by SAS or Miss Sterling.

Boss you just won the game by packing the bus,
I don't know who will win the league, but I can tell you without any shred of doubt that BORING Chelsea won't win it.

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Chelsea capitalized on Liverpool's mistakes. Check the second goal. Defense is also a football tactic. Boring or not, didn't the Blues score two goals? Your team betrayed you.

Disappointed with this result...our season is as good as over.It wasn't for lack of trying. Never seen 2 buses parked. Entire 18 yards in the area was blue!

steve G,,,,U'll never slip alone!.......sorry YNWA!

Parking the entire team inside the 18 yard box can be dangerous at times. They can easily concede a penalty.
I support chelsea but i fear this strategy might fail against Athletico madrid.

Ironically, Mourinho accused West Ham of applying 19th century tactics when they packed the bus against the Chavs.

Looking at the EPL now and with sunday's result, i realise the EPL tittle is won way far earlier in the season. Waiting for some luck in the 'run-in' is not cool. We going to have it tough, i guess , playing with confidence the last 2 games, crystal and Newcastle. They just got a blue print from chelsea on how to park 2 buses and a yatch!

well, he went ahead to suggest he would have done the same, soma the comments in full wacha kutoa the parts that suit you

Quote:

"A football match is about two teams playing and this match was only one team playing and another team not playing.

"I told Big Sam [West Ham manager Allardyce] and I repeat my words: they need points and, because they need points, to come here and play the way they did, is it acceptable? Maybe, yes.

"I cannot be too critical, because if I was in his position I don't know if I would do the same. Maybe."

Love him or hate him (as many fans of rival clubs do), Mourinho is a winner. Substance takes precedence over style and the former Special One, Happy One and, most recently, self-titled Mr Bean doesn't care a jot what people think.

Which was what made the Chelsea manager's comments after a 0-0 draw against West Ham in January all the more ludicrous.

Having watched his side fire 39 blanks at Adrián's goal compared to West Ham's one shot of their own, Mourinho cried: "This is football from the 19th century. This is not the Premier League. This is not the best league in the world ... the only thing I could use was a Black and Decker to destroy the [West Ham] wall."

And so we move neatly onto Sunday. While West Ham enjoyed 27.7 per cent of possession in that match at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, Mourinho's side had even less (27 per cent) against Liverpool. If a starting line-up featuring John Obi Mikel, Nemanja Matic and Frank Lampard protecting the back four suggested a preference for defence over attack, the addition of Gary Cahill in place of André Schürrle for the final 15 minutes made it abundantly clear.

my point is even though he called it football from the 19th century - he also suggested he would do the same, its not an issue of 'nyani haoni kundule ...!', its more an issue of 'nyani ameona kundule ...!' smile

Accept and move on. Just like Real vs Bayern at Santiago Bernabeu, the goal statistic is the most vital one. Like someone commented, the last time Arsenal won a trophy, they were dominated by Man U, who kept hitting the post. Man U lost the FA final. You don't hear us lamenting. It remains that the Gunners won the FA Cup. Jana, Chelsea won 2-0 at Anfield and got 3 points. Hiyo ingine ni details.

Was the Mbus still parked at the goal when Chelsea were scoring two goals? Me thinks not!

a favour everton may not want to do to their great rivals. if the arsenal wins today against newcastle making it harder yet for everton to get 4th, what are the chances they may throw the match against man city?

For me it is OK for low table teams fighting for survival on low budgets to play negative because you don't expect any different from coaches such as Big Sam(BTW even west ham supporters loathe him)
It is another thing for one of the most expensively assembled team, with abundant talents to resort to anti-football.
Abramovic didn't sack Mourinho last time for not winning,he wanted attractive football.

Earlier in the season there were reports indicating that Abramovich wanted Chelsea to play good free flowing football, soon enough he will get tired of Mourinho's tactics....kama Real Madrid!
