KQ was laughed at when it bid for Air Tanzania but KQ bought 49% of smaller airline (Precision Air).

2009 - Air Tanzania is almost dead while Precision Air is #1 in Tanzania.

@ectasy - jeddah is like a once/year deal during Ramadan. I think.

Juba - That is a market that need to be exploited! I understand the airport in Juba does not meet KQ's standards (sorta why they had stopped flying to Kisumu)

Luanda - I am surprised KQ does not fly there but the Angola govt is very 'protective' of its local airline TAAG.

The 'light' are not really out.
Its actually a NOTAM (Notice to Air Men) from Kenya Civil Aviation Authority notifying all the airlines that use JKIA that the runway threshold lights at (JKIA) do not meet the minimum requirements for a safe night operations as required by ICAO.(International Civil Aviation Organization)

As a result of this and in conformity with their (Kenya Airways safety standards) they have decided to suspend all night operation into and out of JKIA.

This measure is to remain effective until advised otherwise by KCAA who are the regulatory authority in Kenya.
Otherwise its at the discretion of the operator...747 cargo planes operated all nyt taking off and landing....
