...The initiative by I do not know which group to move from house to house testing people and families for HIV/AIDS is the worst campaign I have ever seen. If they come to my house and I do not want to be tested and my wife wants to be tested what do they think will happen. Some people just have that phobia, not that they have it but they do not want to be tested. What they should be doing is setting up testing clinics in the estates so that those who want to get tested can go and do it...

If you say you dont want they move on! If she wants t be tested then they try to councel both of you if not they test your wife then go. Just because you refuse does not mean everyone will refuse.
By the way there is more privacy in being tested at home. There is more stigma and phobia with going to get tested kwa VCT in or outside estates.
This strategy will work even better in rural areas which have no access to VCT close by and have to walk long distances.
Its a great idea!

Home-Based Counselling and Testing (HBCT) is the way to go! without finding all individuals who are infected, the prevalence in the country will not be accurate and with th GOK planning to increase guys on ARV, most people can be covered...
Why should one fear knowing your spouses state or vice versa?

I think its a great move. Most people have a serious phobia for the HIV test and would never walk into a clinic/go do it voluntarily. Am sure it's s right move and most probably it'll make a difference.

nothing close to a good idea i say, things do happen and we all know ourselves, imagine your partner insisting on the test and you refuse since you know the results..thats the end of that home..

lets be real, i dont even trust myself.

I believe this is the way to go, knowing your status is taking charge of your life!!!

I thought its easier tested at home, coz after the whole stress you can lay down and get a rest, or drink yaself silly depending on the results.
Its better to faint at hime than on the streets where no one will bother.

@Lyra
...you do not get tested when you are sober...You have to have more alcohol than blood in the system.
...At least when you are totally cut you can say that the + was supposed to be a - and infact in that state you can pick a pen and cancel the + and put -....!!!
