Is it Jumbo or Jambo and how is it related to KQ?

True @dunkang I'm old but sometimes you miss one or two things.

Finally on the way after several years of delay. Management should have fewer excuses once all the 76's are replaced by the 78's by the end of the year.

Thanks for the flight path,am impressed its a direct flight.KQ should plan that transatlantic flight

As for the 787 improving margins;there are too many confounding factors such as geopolitics, security, oil that are beyond the managements control and who says they are retiring the 767s...am pretty sure they shall convert some to cargo or try out newer routes

@mibbz, thought the 767 were on lease so they are just sent back to that Irish lessor?
So what happened to MH if this much detail is available on flightaware.com?

@gordon flight aware & flightradar have lots of aeroplane tracking But it relies on the transponder in the aeroplane which is what pundits claim to have been switched off when the plane changed course.if you look @flightradar info for that night the MH 370 dissappears just before it turns

As for KQ am sure the lease has timelines so the 767 shall be with us,at least for another year or 2 till all the 787s are home...

As @mibbz states, the 767s will be returned as the 787s come into service. There is still need for them as routes are maintained or expanded. The 787 doesn't even fly to Paris until 1 June 2014.

The 767s might be re-deployed to some sectors esp African destinations despite high operating costs if the lessor reduces the leasing costs thus the overall cost to KQ remains competitive. The lessor doesn't want these planes back either! So it makes more sense to reduce the leasing price to KQ rather than have it sit around in a yard somewhere.

KQ pilots seem to have a problem with landing. The hardest landings I've experienced have all been on KQ where the pilots practically plant the airplane on the runway. The hardest so far being on 29 March 2014 while landing in Amsterdam (5Y-KYZ), where a couple of oxygen masks fell down.
Youtube has a few videos of KQ "skills", worth a few laughs. Note; even though the landings are fairly hard, they are very safe and within the specifications of the aircraft (but not me).
