The launch of PUSETU was graced by three cabinet secretaries, this clearly looks like the new government project to tame COTU?

Why cant they let someone from another community head workers? They must respect workers and avoid making workers part of the KK alliance politics.

Agreed, you will note that the HR managers of most large parastatals are from royal tribes. What these guys do is hire people from their royal tribes for fat positions - check out akina KPLC, sijui KenGen, etc. The "professional" positions that do not require specialisation will almost always be dished out to the tribesmates of the HR manager. Then you will have technical positions which are balanced out. But at unionisable level, you will have the rest of us - these are the mbaya KYM positions, and in most parastatals they are split amongst us. These guys then form the backbone of the Trade Union movement in those parastatals, and they tend to share out positions when elections come.

In my uninformed opinion, PUSETU cannot tame COTU because COTU is an umbrella of so many trade unions. Therefore in theory, PUSETU should be a member of COTU.

I do not think a trade union for public servants can represent the wakas of Kenya. Its only COTU which has representation of trade unions from both the private and public sector in kenya

Did you see Sossion there? Trade Union movement in Kenya relies a lot on teachers, who have traditionally been the most faithful and most militant of Trade Union members, lose them and you become substantively weakened!!!!

Walimu and other publis servants are the largest employee groups. Once their contribution goes elsewhere, COTU will be a shell

Check your facts, teachers have NEVER been in COTU.

TRUE,The strong workers union have not affliated themselves to COTU ie akina KNUT,Dock workers union and they have managed to negotiate better salaries/allowances/working conditions for members. COTU is a political party with trade union colours.

Which are these royal tribes in Kenya and by us do you mean others not affiliated to KK alliance?

Mr Atwoli boosts of having more than a million member each contributing Kes 100 (not sure if monthly or annually.
Can someone tell me! What does Atwoli and his office do with that money which translates to more than 100M?

There is no way I would advocate joining a union that the government has come full out to support. How will my leaders fight for my rights with the same fellows that they are sharing the same bed with...
