It will be liberty or it will be death. If you are not ready to pay that price, don't use the word freedom in your vocabulary.

Oginga Odinga is vice president under Jomo Kenyatta, and Jomo Kenyatta was considered to be the organizer of the Mau Mau. And if you analyze closely those words, I think you’ll have the key to how to straighten the situation out in Mississippi.

When the nations of Africa are truly independent—and they will be truly independent because they’re going about it in the right way—the historians will give President Kenyatta and the Mau Mau their rightful role in African history.

The architect of Kenya's independence was Tom Mboya. Jomo Kenyatta was the unifying elder statesman who benefitted from the rivalry between Mboya, Jaramogi and Dr Kiano.

This is what Malcolm X had to say on Tom Mboya, from 8:30 first video and beginning of second video:

This is one of the reasons why Tom Mboya has lasted so long in Kenya. During the Mau Mau uprising, when white people were scared to death; not only in Kenya but throughout Africa, and not only in Africa but throughout the world. Because there were people who looked just like the Kikuyu right here in New York, in Mississippi, in other places.

When Mau Mau was on the rampage, and Jomo Kenyatta was given the image of a monster. Because his own image was so ghastly in the sight of whites, the image of Tom Mboya immediately became acceptable. Because Kenyatta seemed to be so irresponsible, and Mboya became responsible. He became acceptable, responsible, you know, and made everyone happy. So they supported him, they backed him up, made him prominent throughout the world.

Kenyatta made him, he didn't make himself. He was intelligent enough to know it. So when Kenyatta got out he supported Kenyatta. He realised the contribution of Kenyatta made him what he was. And because he was intelligent enough, he was blessed with sufficient insight, to see the role that Kenyatta and Mau Mau played in his own prominence and image of acceptability and respectability, he continued to support Kenyatta and today he's still a part of Kenyatta's government.

What I'm surprised about is that Malcom X took such a keen interest in the happening in Kenya that he could know nitty gritty issues like this
