Anyone used them? How was the experience?

Very good co...you can send direct to either mpesa or straight to bank account. I've been using them on a monthly basis for 1+ years now! I highly recommend them. That said, your experience might be different from mine. A final note to self: first time sending might take a few days because they have to verify your stuff, like any good company will do! After that, mambo nyweee! If you send less than US$1000, the cash gets to the recipient withing 4 - 5 hours, give or take, before it even shows up on you bank statement. You also get email updates regarding your transaction stages! Also, they're slightly cheaper than Western Union or Moneygram, or so I think!

Really? what about the 3.93% of the amount plus the transaction fee?

The 3.93% is a transaction fee charged by your card company i.e visa or mastercard, not poa pay (very much normal when dealing with cards to send money across boarders) ...otherwise if you send from your bank acc, then you will only pay the poa pay fee. I hope this helps!

My experience was similar to Penny for more than a year and then things went south. After my last transfer with them, I noticed some BS charges going through my account. A couple of small ones, followed by increasing amounts after that....I tried following up but this never went anywhere with them so I quit. But that was just me.

This was a card I only used for home transfers which I closed quickly before too much damage was done.

As an alternative you could check out western union's Custom house...The set can be slow and the transfers take 4/5 days into your account. But the exchange rates are much better than anything else I've used before. Works well when you are not iin a rush.
