I feel sorry for whomever wrote that article. They are so clueless

1. USA economy is not as dependent on energy as Russia is. So the notion that sanctions could hurt USA is just laughable.

2. America's trade with Russia is miniscule compared to the rest of the economy. Sanctions on China might hurt the USA but Russia is a non-factor to the US.

3. Many Americans actually hate oil companies like Chevron. If they find out that Chevron is loosing money they might just pop champagne. Ditto for giant banks like Morgan Stanley.

If the article said EU would be hurt, it would be believable.

1. If you think 97% of Crimeans wanted to go back to Russia then you will believe anything. Ethnic Russians are only 60% of Crimeans. The other minorities do not want to go back o Russia because Russia has historically treated them poorly: ethnic cleansing, massacres, atrocities etc. But they did not vote in the sham referendum because theere was no option in the ballot for Crimea to stay in Ukraine. The options in the ballot were both set up for Putin to win. Like tossing a coin with two heads.

2. The reason Russians are 60% of Crimea is because of expulsions, massacres and ethnic cleansing carried out against Tartars in the 1940s

3. Ukraine has invested in building Crimea for the past 50 years. Should they just lose it ?


How do you fee about the Pwani sio Kenya movement ? Should we also have a referendum for Coasterians to decide if they want to leave Kenya ?

I wonder if you and others were on Wazua championing the cause of the Pwani sio Kenya movement.

Kosovo is different because the Serbs were committing atrocities against Kosovars. There is no way those two would have lived in peace.

In 2014, it has been Putin fomenting divisions between ethnic Russians and Ukrainians. Up until a a year ago, they got along well. A poll conducted in 2011 suggested that most ethnic Russians wanted to stay in Ukraine.

Then Putin started his propaganda and now Russians hate Ukrainians. Similar to how Kenyan politicians turn Kenyans against each other.

Global, effect to EU escalates to US markets then global recession when US economy has shown signs of recovery. US & Russia are tied to the hip and only a fool would impose economic sanctions due to ripple effects.

First get the history right. Crimea has been shuffled several times at one time it belonged to the greek. 2, the autonomous republicans of Crimea was built crimeans not Ukrainians. 3, those crimeans the majority of them voted to join Russia isnt that what democracy is? Or democracy is only correct when its enforced by the usual suspects? Most Ukrainians are of Russian decent and the napoleon wars made them hate Europeans to the core. Maybe obomber should work on that

Crimea has belonged to Ukraine for 50 years. which means that Ukraine tax payer money has been invested in building the region for over 50 years. On top of that, Crimea was legally given to Ukraine. So why is it right that they lose it now ?

I see you dodged my question with regard to whether the Pwani sio kenya group should be allowed a referendum to decide if they want Coast to be in Kenya. Perhaps you are a hypocrite just like Putin.

Speaking of Putin, he is the biggest hypocrite of them all. When Chechnya wanted to leave Russia, he refused. Instead he bombed them to smithereens. Why did'nt Putin also allow Checnya to secede since they wanted and still want nothing to do with Russia. The answer is easy. Putin is a bloody hypocrite.

I have already given reasons why I think the referendum was sham so I will not bother repeating them.

Please read and comprehend before posting. No one wrote that sanctions will not have ripple effects. Mcreggae is correctly laughing at the idea that sanctions will affect the US more.

The US economy is far more diversified than Russia. Russia will literally collapse if they cannot sell raw materials to Europe.
