I watched as a group of 500 policemen sang a war song in full view of of Kenyans and the criminals as well, as they were being dispatched in the city of Nairobi 'to promise Nairobians" that they will be safe. Now a few things
1. In military science, you don't let your enemy know that you are launching an attack. You do it secretly, at your own time and place...Nobody should ever know that you are planning a swoop. And I guess that is a basic in the training offered to the police officers. Now tell me, those who know...which criminal was out on the nights the police were conducting their swoop after they had been told that the police force were coming for them?
2. What I have heard and read about criminals they do their preparations in the estates and particularly in the slums and Eastleigh... That is where the search should start, not in the city centers

I dont think wameshindwa...Those who think for them are not doing it properly... The police will just arrest innocent people while the real criminals are hiding waiting for the dust to settle and then they hit again! God help us.

Kenya police is riddled with corruption and tribalism with little attention given to the real job. The security problems we face need them to work smart, and all they can is say 'security has been beefed up', we have launched investigations', 'no stone will be left unturned' blah blah blah.

The police are still stuck in tactics from the last century. Beat a suspect to pulp till they admit, or release the person and gun them down soon after. Balaa tupu

The biggest problem for Police is consitency, where did our leaders get the idea of "operation".

Why can't they consistently carry out their work which is to relentlessly maintain security.

Where did this thing operation come from, sounds like a post colonial hangover just like everything wrong with our provincial administration and governance in general. My question is when the 500 police are rolled out in Nairobi, where do they come from, and what do they do for the rest of the year, who is left doing whatever it is they do.

What do you expect of a force that deploys ten(1,2,3,4....10) traffic police boys to man Westland roundabout early in the morning even when the traffic lights are working perfectly. Jana I asked them why they are even stopping and releasing vehicles coz they were actually following the lights. When its red, they stop. When its green they release. Why do we need police to do that? Tena ten of them? So when its red, they all decend on the vehicles trying to look for makosa. I really dont understand how our security is managed.:)

In similar cases to what @Magigi is saying, We usually hear the police giving crime reports on the areas you are likely to be attacked. They will tell us to avoid some areas, some of which are major roads, because we are likely to be attacked. Now I wonder, why call a press conference to tell thugs that you know the areas they operate in? Wont they just move to a different area? Why do I need to have such information myself if the police have the info? If the affected area is where I live, should I move? If I move, wont the thugs follow me? Instead of announcing where the thugs are operating, why not wipe them out silently?
