As usual the US is exercising its high handedness. I'm sure Putin has done his cost benefit analysis by now and knows too well how to deal with Obama.

"Russian forces storm Ukraine naval headquarters in Crimea".

"This morning they stormed the compound. They cut the gates open, but I heard no shooting," said Oleksander Balanyuk, a captain in the navy, walking out of the compound in his uniform and carrying his belongings."

Wazuans have roasted local journalists for much less.

Is Annexation the correct word in this instance or is it closer to amalgamation? According to Britannica
Quote:
annexation, a formal act whereby a state proclaims its sovereignty over territory hitherto outside its domain.Annexation is frequently preceded by conquest and military occupation of the conquered territory.

Whereas
Quote:
conquest, in international law, the acquisition of territory through force, especially by a victorious state in a war at the expense of a defeated state. An effective conquest takes place when physical appropriation of territory (annexation) is followed by “subjugation” (i.e., the legal process of transferring title).

Not sure if this has been posted here.

Putin has some level of legitimacy on this issue, apparently Crimea was a part of Russia and was gifted to Ukraine some 60 years ago. So its more of getting back whats yours.

To much hypocrisy, contradiction and double standards from the West.No wonder smaller countries are finding it easy this days to show them the middle finger without second thoughts.

Before it was Russian it was Tartan who were mercilessy dealt with by Stalin and the Russian populace sent there.. So if you go back further down into modern history WW2.. it would be a country on its own or Ukrainian..

I recall you applauding the demise of Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi at the hands of the west.
