I get the feeling yours could be sleeping disorders or fluorescing light. How many hours do you sleep a day? Do you have anything relieving you from the intense light coming from your screen?

My trigger is skipping meals, pumping my system with too much sugar also intense white light

@webish...as you seek medical advice, try and identify the trigger. I was here last year and I used to feel like dying. same left side of the head and the left eye...I used to sleep sometimes crying coz they were so sudden and "from nowhere" or so I thought. But with the help of some lady doctor (who believes migraines are triggered by something) I identified my trigger... from having them almost twice a month first half of last year, they went to once a month towards the end. I took pain killers only twice last year when I was almost sure I would die if I didn't. Haven't had one this year and am praying this holds for the next 3-4 years when I can sit back and take it easy. When I feel the pressure building up, classical music works for me and I put "everything" away... something I could hardly do. Good luck with yours.

@tycho...which are these techniques Sad

I love your choice of music. What was your trigger?

needle. thread. and a guy in the office.

It has been observed that riding a horse has some calming effect on a stressed mind.

It has also been posited that watching, studying a mother hen with her very tiny chicks produces similar effects.

I extrapolate that sewing could have some mental impact on the sewer, aside from the technical skills. Obviously also on someone watching the one sewing.

The common thread on all the above is simple, easy, less complicated habits.

There are simple things, remedies, one can do for and to oneself at a certain level hence avoiding trips to third parties.

Care to share what was your trigger? I have been trying to identify trigger. Initially thought it was dust (in UpperHill, this makes me crazy uncomfortable)...Keeping away from exhaust smoke. and I also immediately stopped/suspended using my favorite fragrances just incase they were irritating me...One month now, Nothing.

I'm so young that I wouldn't want to believe I have work related Stress/Pressure.

@Muriel, great music, huh?

My trigger...without going into details,...change of lifestyle from being the "programmer" to being "programmed" and I could not stand not being in control (when you are used to being the teacher and suddenly you are the student kinda thing....) So, the pressure to prove that I could do it, perform and be at the top of the game crept in... (the bold especially smile )

...it could be one little thing that makes you "overthink" unnecessarily. But like I said, seek medical advice as you try and identify if there is a trigger.

Pain is an SOS. Knowledge of ones body hence is key in deciphering the SOS. Or deciphering the SOS requires knowledge of ones body.

Yes, great music. Very great.

A certain time when i was in 3rd year i experienced a severe head ache.I went to see a doctor in a city council hospital.

The city council doctor told me that i have no problem.

The body sometimes reacts mysteriously, just pray God and take it easy

@mkenyan...yes, some things that make for a good laugh could relieve pressure...that was one day smile .

@Muriel...I agree, simple things. So simple that their impact tends to be ignored.

You need to see a doc urgently if you haven't. It could be stress related and very many young people are dropping dead after ignoring and self-medicating these migraines that just start from nowhere. You could also find it's simply optical.

BBI will solve it

Was a sufferer of persistent migraines during my late teen years. I prayed and asked God to clear them cz they were paralyzing and I was thoroughly born again . Never suffered again. Now reading this thread alone could trigger them so I have skipped posts.

Webish, i've suffered migraines since my teens. I would normally see doctors who would prescribe medicines that kept the headaches at bay for two years before recurring.

I have tried everything from Apple cider vinegar to yoga.

Last year, sept, i went through another attack, and this one was particularly vicious. The pain would last for upto 4 hours and i would sit up in the dark at night with an ice pack on my head. I saw a neurologist who, after a physical exam, determined that there was no underlying cause, but that the veins in my head tend to costrict periodically leading to the migraines. He prescribed some meds which i took for 4 weeks and I've not had a single attack since.

He however told me that these would prevent the migraines for 3 years then i would have to take medication again, and the cycle would continue.

@danas, 'mind cleaning' is done by, identifying thought patterns and their concommitant emotions, deconstructing these patterns, and periodic spacing out from what I may term as 'ego control' through deep meditation and prayer.

'Soul alignment' involves 'mind cleaning', identity and self consciousness and transformation of relationships and time to create well being, meaning, harmony, and eternity in the face of mortality.

@kysse, 'praying to God' and 'getting saved' are instances of 'soul alignment' and 'mind cleaning'. But the idea that some posts here - like mine, can trigger the migraines shows the extent of what we may call 'your healing'. Indeed my favorite question nowadays is 'what's healing?' Is it simply a question of not exeperiencing some previous dis-ease or condition? To me healing bears the marks of total reconstitution of the entire person and experience of harmony with all that there is. For example, transforming of migraine 'triggers' to 'reshomo' as Kabbalists would say. Reshomo, are like positive triggers to a deeper understanding of the self and the universe, and there's no longer discrimination and skipping of posts.

@Caramba, it's difficult for me to understand the gist of your post. If you intend to say that a person with migraines is bound to a chronic condition that can only be managed by medication, then I can only point out that migraines or diseases are conditions we create through our active participation. For example, why or what causes constriction of blood vessels? Isn't constriction a relative term that is related to blood flow? Take the medication you were given; how does it work? Can't the body in its natural state do the same thing? This brings me to what you've said you've tried before like 'yoga'. On this I suspect that you're talking of poses and deep breath without the understanding or deeper use of other 'tools' that yoga offers; like 'holisim' and 'intergration'. Or even any other solution you've tried has focused on the symptoms rather than the root cause.

@all, for a moment I thought I have never had persistent headaches in the past, and it took me some time to realize how I have dealt with this condition. For me the trigger was seeing myself. I hated my image on photo or on mirror, and my mind was often disturbed by my overall condition. Luckily for me study and conversation with some people held me strong but the discovery of marijuana tipped the balance. It came as a shock; but it worked, or works to some extent. The only sad thing about it is the implied slavery to it. I have been working on this matter for years and I have received knowledge that's enough to keep me calm and unperturbed. Totally healed.

Well, just an observation. Posts like this one(and several others on the health section) are quite humbling. You realise how guys have issues with health, some for years, others for months...yet some of us have not seen a doc for an ailment related case for years(apart from the normal medical and/or dental checkups which are not related to any actual illness). These topics comes to remind us we ought never take good health for granted and we should thank God every day that we are fine. With this humble reminder I thank God for health and pray for those going through pain and pray for the doctors who treat that they may be given more wisdom, knowledge, humility and perseverance to do the good job they do everyday.

Get well Webish.

Pain is an SOS. Knowledge of ones body hence is key in deciphering the SOS. Or deciphering the SOS requires knowledge of ones body.

Yes, great music. Very great.

A migraine provides a new experience. You can 'feel' one side of your brain is more active than the other. If you concentrate on the feeling you can eventually gain control over it and reverse it i.e. essentially willing away the migraine.

Appreciating the feedback.

So, just to give some update: I went to visit a Doc (GP) on Friday. Pressure was okay and other physical checks (eyes, tongue, lower abdomen etc..).

According to her, the symptoms I describe are exact "text book" symptoms for a Tension Headache, which builds over time. We spoke a lot with her and she even preached to me saying prayer is as important as "Scientific Medicine" smile

And that, there's something I may be worrying too much about, unknowingly. As @2012 said, too much "work things" may be a contributing factor. I need something to ditract me (more exercise, movies, girlfriend d'oh! etc).

Must confess. While I may not spend more than 8hours @work, I tend to do work related stuff almost every second I am awake. All my Twitter/Facebook/Web time is in a way "work-related".

I still don't rule out any other "possible" cause for my migraine, but at the moment, I'll try and get a life. More family/friend time etc. As I closely monitor the migraine. I slowly learn to take my health seriously and plan to go for routine blood test (sugar/cholestrol etc) .

Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.

@Tycho, exactly. Mine has become a cronic condition that i relieve through medication.

You are also right on my pedestrian yoga techniques. I would love to receive more tips from a guru like yourself (except hio ya fangi)Laughing out loudly

Not sure I'd given an update here before.

I just resumed exercise/training (after 2 years), and things just got better. It's been 2/3 months now. Tried taking things easy at work.. took less tasks and worried less about them, but maintaining my overall commitment.

The headaches have since gone away, but my pressure not very good for my age. Always at the border. (I guess this may still be work related. Personal deadlines and high expectations of self etc), which I am trying to manage.

Easting well, plus consistent exercise has been making me have a "feel good" feeling everytime. Though for now, the World Cup is messing with my usual evening run. Sad Sad .

Will keep monitoring and update. Thank you all for your inputs.

Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.
