@murchr, Machakos is perfect location for the new ICT city due to availability of land for expansion. Most of Thika is already developed hence little land for future expansion exexpt the area near KU and along Juja farm towards Kilimambogo.
Cities all over the world grow progressively. What the county planning departments need is to employ well trained planners who can be able to ensure the growth doesnt happen like in the eastlands area.
Eastlands happened when city council planning department did not usually have well trained planners and where the planners gave directives, the Moi govt quickly threw their directives to the dustbins and the councillors took over. With the Kibaki/Raila/Uhuru governments, most planners employed are well trained and have been given the power to act. We are slowly learning as a country on how to balance beween professional planning advice and politics so once we fully learn, the planners will be left to do their job without alot of political influence and nairobi city expansion can grow well.
