The annoying thing is that the funds realized from slashing other departments budget including judiciary are going to pay Mpigs Mortgage and car loans...

MPs still awarding themselves huge financial perks. This is money that could be used for development or to put idle youth to work in order to reduce crime. Meanwhile crime is soaring and there are carjackings and home invasions everyday.

I will shout this until I am hoarse: Our politicians and their greed are directly to blame for the high crime rate. And Kenyans enable them via that 6-piece voting and tribal voting.

It comes as no surprise therefore that the MPs are not interested in tackling crime, unemployment or any issues. No MP or Presidential candidate in Kenya is elected if he campaigns on addressing issues like soaring crime. The key is to appeal to tribalism and numbers. Until this mentality of Kenyans changes, MPs will go to parliament with the sole goal of enriching themselves and engaging in silly power plays at the people's expense.

People shall complain about crime and the inability of MPs to address real issues then in 2017 , engage in the same suicidal voting patterns. Kenyans really like masochism.

Sometimes it looks to me like someone is trying to infuriate the masses in order to topple the government. Isn't this how things start in other places?

National Assembly Speaker Justice Muturi has maintained that Parliament will not honour “idiotic” court rulings. Speaking in his office at Parliament Buildings after meeting Pakistant and Iran Ambassadors to Kenya, Muturi said the legislature will not be adhering to orders which do not pass the test of reason.

He said before passing any ruling, judges should first ask themselves if the orders being issued can be effected. He said Parliament has been confronted with absurd rulings from the judiciary saying such orders are issued in vain.

“We want to respect court orders, and we have respected very many of them. But I do not understand how we are to obey every order, however idiotic or unconstitutional,” said the Speaker.

On Sunday, chief Justice Willy Mutunga criticized Parliament saying it was intimidating the judiciary. The CJ questioned why MPs slashed judiciary’s budgetary allocation by Sh500 million noting that it is ordinary citizens who will suffer as courts will not be able to dispense their duties properly.

Muturi however yesterday defended the move by the MPs to cut the funding noting that the judiciary was unable to absorb the monies allocated to it.

He said the judiciary did not explain to the country that it was unable to use all the monies it had been given for development hence the steps by the MPs to re-allocate the cash to other urgent expenditures.

Parliament and Judiciary have been at loggerheads after the courts issued orders to block the Senate from grilling governors over the spending of monies at the counties.

MPs also expressed anger after the court issued an order blocking the removal of Embu governor Martin Wambora even after the Senate impeached him.

Yesterday, the speaker complained that judiciary was interfering with the work of the legislature. He said Parliament as per the constitution was an independent institution. He maintained parliament represent the will of the people and not the Judiciary.
