I agree with you, with the digital boys promising so much during their campaigns there is nothing to talk about and in a thread to discuss the journey we have travelled as a country people are still on about ODM being dead...a claim that has been made since 2008!!!!

I have always been for a strong opposition since it is more beneficial for the citizens. Its sad at the turn of events last week since the success of the ODM would have been a strong benchmark for the likes of TNA to display party maturity and increase the democratic space.
We seriously need the likes of baba to be around to burst any real and contemplated scandals.

Even when Kibs took over yrs later nobody recognised his efforts until later on! So we have 4 yrs to go for us to judge Kamwana en his team. If only kenyans would learn to highligt both negative and positive changes for us to improve.

There is some work going on on the ground. I believe there is foundation being laid down whose fruits could be beneficial in due course. Just a few things that are happening but whose effects might only be felt later:
1. Devolution: I am glad it happened. It was always my great hope and I am yet to lose hope. Once the noise settles, once we scare off a few thieves, once we make noise n send a few home, we shall be left with the right people to implement it. In some areas, devolution is laying very strong grounds.
2. Free maternity is a God-send to the village people. Talk to them. There were women who would stay at Maternity wards for months after giving birth but now they just give birth and leave. Quality of service is still down, but I hope the investments county govts will put in health sector will change that soon.
3. Agriculture- The mega irrigation projects being done will increase food supply. My worry is whether storage facilities are in place. The fertilizer project is also a great step ahead. The govt did what my agri adviser always told me: Dont just pour fertilizer, have an expert recomend the right fertilizer.
4. SGR-Once its in place, benefits will be massive.
5. Economy: All major indicators are showing positive growth. A quick visit at the Investors section could give a summary of what is happening in the general economic spheres.

ODM in shambles, as was expected!

As much as this was expected, it is sad. We need to build parties that are not personality based otherwise we will not be able to hold leaders to account on promises through manifestos and there will be no continuity. We'll end up with white elephants like Konza. The same fate awaits TNA after Uhuru's term just like DP, KANU, NARC, PNU just to name a few.

the other significant event in death of political parties happened when Uhuru dumped Kanu. If a party with such history was allowd to die, which one will survive past their current personality heads?

Areas that need urgent attention:

1. Security
2. Mismanagement of public funds, esp at county level
3. A strong constructive opposition to check the excesses of the govt. Right now anything can be rubberstamped at the whims of executive.
4. Proper management of public service. I feel we still pay billions to un-rendered services.
5. Speed of implementation-Sometimes I feel like we are moving too slowly in making a step forward. Our procurement laws, though meant for the good, takes too long before a closure. Every decission is being challenged in the courts(either we are doing it to waste time or we are making illegal decissions. This needs to be sorted)
