My laptop cannot start and is giving me the following message:

"Windows XP could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

Now my biggest worry is if i will lose my data with the repair process. Also don't have the setup CDROM. Experts pls saidia.

Do you have a backup of your files? the message is very clear the file is missing or corrupt, you can attempt to repair using the original CD-ROM(you will need it). If you have not backed up your data look for a live CD for Ubuntu which is downloadable run it and copy off your data before Repairing or Formatting.

Just take it to someone who knows what to do, you will not loose your data or get in touch.

Go to 'start' and search for 'services'

Scroll down to WLAN Autoconfig on the Services tab

Right Click and Select start.
