A woman has sued K24’s news anchor Tom Mboya over child maintenance. Elsie Achieng, a student at Kenya Methodist University, moved to Milimani Law Courts claiming that Mboya has absconded parental responsibility for their two-year-old child.
Through her lawyer Pauline Muhanda, Elsie alleged that Mboya consistently provided for the baby together with the baby since her birth until November last year.
Elsie claimed that all her efforts to get in touch with him (Mboya) to take up his responsibility have failed. “He has informed close relatives that he will not maintain the child unless the matter is decided in court,” claims Elsie.
Elsie claimed she was a student with no steady income to bring up the child. She now wants Mboya to pay up Sh50,000 per month before the case is determined.

But Ndegwa strongly contested the allegations, saying, “I have never had any shade of relationship with that woman. She has been to my house only once in December 4, 2009,” Ndegwa explained. “I don’t know how she landed there.”
