Who owns Viber? It has far better features than whatsapp.

Let me tell you - its not about the functionality, its about the people who are already in it! 1 million people a day signing up?

remember - If you are not paying for it, you are not the customer. You are the product.

secondly, they are different types of apps. i guess viber is also shopping out there for a buyer.... it may actually be Microsoft (remember they bought skype)

viber was recently bought for usd 900 by rakuten. you should keep up to date with it news mr. it. smile

i rarely pay attention to sub $1 billion buy outs. Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

i also think they will regret it as they have a healthy 550k user per day registration rate!

Laughing out loudly
viber wuz surely robbed. no wonder snapchat last year turned down billions from facebook.

they surely were!

Gentlemen

Of the $19billion.. only $4B is cash. that means actual money leaving Facebook accounts the rest is money within Facebook just changing hand.
The owners are rich.. but facebook only 'loses' 4billion dollars

stocks are also 'money' they can trade! if they decide to leave ama? secondly using the term 'only' before $4 billion unfitting!! its possibly 51,000 kilometers of 1000 bob notes end to end!! ukiambiwa uokote utashindwa!!

Compared to the $19Billion $4billion is only...

i agree 12billion is still money, but my point is,it is not money 'leaving' facebook, like the $4billion. It is money changing hands within facebook. If you look at it keenly it is money still tied to FB. and it is very much tied to market forces and Facebook. it can rise it can crash. but the 4billion is sitting pretty.

What do you think of Facebook's big move today? How significant is their WhatsApp acquisition?

Facebook acquired WhatsApp, the most popular mobile messenger app, for a whopping $16 Billion deal, plus another $3 Billion in stock. It's the largest-ever purchase of a company backed by venture-capital. Amazing. Today surely marks a monumental day in the certainty of Facebook's future.

P.S. Hm, wonder if the SnapChat guys are kicking themselves now?

SnapChat is a specialized offering and they still have their niche market - teens that love sending naked photos of themselves to others.
