We are halfway through. 50 more years to go. Seriously, govt can't change your fortunes. Your destiny is in your hands. Wakule wasikule hutabadilika. I usually draw comparisons within Africa, using Rwanda. Kagame is a superb leader. He is been at the top two positions in that country for the last 20 years. 6 vp, 14 prezzo. Nothing has changed much about individual Rwandese except attitude towards one another. So don't blame Ouru, blame yourself first. They saw they could use our weaknesses as average Kenyans to help themselves. No politician has this country at heart. Mutua pia.

Someone on Wazua is trying to suggest that a corrupt president has no effect on our lives. I refer you to pastor Owuor for prayers.

If you are intelligent enough, you'll realize that the effect he has on you life currently is negligible except on security. What do you want the president to do for you that hasn't been done before? Personally, I can only blame Ouru on law and order, hizo zingine afanye venye anataka.

SGR scandal

If i could get kina Cecil Rhodes and Lord Delemere or Queen Victoria to explain in simple terms the very complex issue of INFRASTRUCTURE DEBT AND FINANCING, this is NOT a scandel but an issue with the LEVELS of UNDERSTANDING, particularly with the general public. Meanwhile let it sink that SGR is a must for now, people can be helped to understand or do the accounting later, for now assume those books are closed.

In this devolved system, one would think with your selective memory and amnesia that your county government is the best performing!! Zero outrage. Worry about ALL "excesses" including that of your County garment led by your Governor!!!

We already know the Jubilee strategy of trying to shift blame to governors. This thread is not about governors. It is about your buddy J Dabz' excesses.

What is your point? You talking of the government but only want to focus on Central Govt to suit the argument and leave County Govt?

Moving to this narrow thinking anyway, what part of that article indicates the President's travel is excess??

Then again, requiring more money may mean the Treasury may have also under budgeted. Given strategic interests, if there is anyone who'll be topping travel in the civil service, who should it likely be according to you?

This is the same President who opts not to travel internally with the Presidential motorcade when on what he deems private business.

Watu waache pan'gang'a.

Office of the president seeks and additional Kshs. 1.5 Billion

why such huge variances of over 100%?
Quote:
Management of State affairs will require an additional Sh715 million while Cabinet Services will need an extra Sh131 million. Management of State Affairs had already been allocated Sh1.2 billion while Cabinet Services had been given Sh473 million.

The Public sector advisory services will require an additional Sh334 million up from the Sh51 million it had been allocated.(a whooping 700% increment) Treasury has said the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit formerly Presidential Press Service will require additional Sh80 million.

The unit had been allocated Sh50 million in the main budget. It is not clear what presidency also requested Sh38 million under a different vote titled Communication and Press Services. The office of the Deputy President which had been allocated Sh569 million will need an extra Sh330 million.

The country’s image abroad is at stake following the failure by the Treasury to allocate Sh679 million to cater for subscription fees to international bodies.

A committee of the National Assembly was yesterday told that the country was facing difficulties in meeting its financial obligations to various regional bodies such as the African Union and IGAD.

Foreign affairs principal secretary Karanja Kibicho said the imposition of the 30 per cent austerity measures on hospitality has resulted into accumulation of Sh100 million pending bill in local hotels.

He told the Defense and Foreign Relations committee chaired by Tetu MP Ndungu Gethenji that the government was constrained in meeting the onuses, a factor that has progressively eroded the country’s diplomatic clout.

Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho revealed that the country owes over Sh679m in subscription bills to the regional bodies, and has on a number of occasions been barred from voting or participating in major international decisions affecting the region.

When the president goes to some of the regional meetings, he is denied voting rights since we have not paid up,” Kibicho told the committee chaired by Tetu MP Ndungu Gethenji.

“I remember the Abuja incident where a vehicle in our convoy broke down. Such incidents do not augur well for the country’s image abroad,” he said.

The PS also made reference to the presidential trip to Moscow last year, and revealed that the president had ordered that the government purchases new vehicles for the embassy.
