I saw this status update from one Nairobian and wondered whether Kenyans are their own worst enemies..I'd like your thoughts on the same, maybe I am just an optimist:

I live in akiba, South C. This morning, having arisen early to listen to Obama's SOTU speech and having heard him talk in real terms about increasing minimum wage by 33% immediately, broadband I.T. to 20 million tois, health care with no pre-conditions by March 31st, military withdrawals by end year plus veterans' fund, housing, women's rights in the workplace, and so on, with/out Congress; I compare BO to UK and our sad State and what I've heard this year so far from our Gava - no more mention of a million jobs ( let alone minimum wage, just watch all those Kibra chaps walking on Mbagathi way to Inda to work for Indians for next to nada), white elephant laptops, 200 000 kids bila school after KCPE every year, forced NSSF increases bila NHIF benefits, useless KDF, talk of Railway cartels ( like our digital guys won't make billions from SGR), high income housing bubble bila low income housing, Kafogo and primordial ideas about our women, and a Parliament of Pigs that is there to feed, I think of my south c neighbourhood. And realize we are like the tois in Mama Ngina's home, and America like that Asian mansion across the orphanage, where there Dear Daddy is seriously taking care of them.

Looks to me like this is a Nairobian giving himself (and country) a very fair self analysis and deserved criticism.

Where is the negative energy, its not like he has come up with any lies about Kenya and its current situation, they are all facts.

I find that the comparison fails on so many levels hence why I just summarized it as negative energy.

Why develop cherry eyed Goggles when you have "arisen early to listen to Obama's SOTU speech" but only develop deep dark Mobutu sunglasses when it comes to your home nation? Is this all "we" see?

It's like the individual is a center, and the energy is flowing away from him, and the government has to do everything for him, all his attention is focused on it.

The post is basically hollow, as far as I'm concerned. Too negative n senseless. How have the US forces become suddenly useful, n KDF useless? What did he mean by that?
So he purports UK is doing nothing while BO is busy? Is it even fair to compare Kenya with a hegemony/superpower?

Mere whinning.
