I'm just disturbed apparent lack of research by our Fourth Estate. The headlines in the dailies, their comments on social media shows some ignorance on some core issues. Sometimes am unable to distinguish their comments and the pedestrian talk. Where are our journalists trained and how is their curricular or is it their trainers? Some of them demonstrate fanatical following or are die-hards for certain politicians. Are journalists not supposed to be objective, no direct political affliations/ persuasions and tribal bigotry? Are there professional ethics for our fourth estate?

Being the first to break 'News' over the weekend attest to this fact.

Its now 1 year and some months since the county governments went live. You would have expected some "jonalist" would be running a program on Telly showcasing the achievements of devolution highlighting county by county showing strengths and weaknesses...but instead the "jonalist" of today has become a minions of politician. Is it that they lack mentors? Wouldn't Kenyans want to know why those clans in Wajir dont want to be part of Mandera and vice-versa?

Anyone with details of how revenue was collected in the counties?

Here was another one. They read the 2013 Economic Survey and thought the 2009 rebased numbers were referring to Kenya's 2013 GDP.

Size of Kenyan economy shrinks to Sh2.8 trillion in new calculations

They are estimates from the Controller of Budget as per the 2013 Economic Survey. Maybe they were taken from county's own projections in county budgets? Not sure if data on actual collection has been made available to the public.

Actually not that i always watch BBC ,CNN and all but i have always liked something about their documentaries. I had thought of something before elections like getting to a constituency and seeing what the local MP has done since he/she was elected. This could have been done very well going down to the mashinanis and have the locals say what has been done and witness it for themselves(journalists) I think there was Nimrod Taabu did a short doc on news about some arid area in the north and the piece was nominated for an award. Guys like Ouko Kusa who always report from mashinani can do something serious about Kisumu (i know he does even some hilairous pieces). We are tired of watching stuff on politics about Nairobi and accidents. I thought they would change after stations like K24 appeared but i guess they did the poaching of fake journalists and the chain continues.

^^^Indeed, its as if theres a contest to outdo each other on who does the most rediculous piece of news and yes Ouko Okusa does the best reports in Nyanza/western, very hillarious.

Some of the reports are just a waste of time non conclusive and very poor in presentation of facts
