I was like you. Always picked KQ. Then I discovered better, cheaper airlines!
1) The food on Qatar is much better than KQ.
2) The stop in AMS is not as comfy [or cheap] as Doha or Abu Dhabi though KQ flew me to AUH for a connection flight on Etihad.
3) Turkish was substantially cheaper for me v Skyteam [not to mention the IFE was awesome IST-NBO and the food was very tasty!]

VVS from ur statements above, I see that u really like food 😄

WIth increased competition with the entry of SKYCHEFS, I brlieve good will get better. Infact, it has gotten better of late.

The B777 are being retro'd new IFEs.

The synergies are coming together and we should BE PROUD OF KQ.

Let me tell you about my first share purchase in KQ, it was in 2003 at an average of 7bob. Sold later at 84 a year or 2 later. Airline business is cyclical. KQ has already been to the valley, i now looking at the the trough.

We should proudly support a brand that makes us a different story compared to our neighbors. Apart from Kenya, Only Ethiopia, South Africa, Tunisia & Egypt can boast of such connectivity in Africa

The 787s are being delivered. The 777-X will take some time before deliveries start. See the delays in the 787 delivery schedule. It's better to have a 777-300 today then not have any planes tomorrow!

KQ is using tired 767s while waiting for the 787s... And this has hurt them.

773 is not as fuel efficient as 77X hence my preference to 77X and yes the 767 is a guzzler.

I wonder why KQ doesnt like the A380? I haven't heard any landing in Nrb either.
KQ chose Boeing over Airbus years ago. And JKIA cannot handle A380.

A380 also requires a facility near JKIA where it can land in the event JKIA was shut for any reason. Closest is Oliver Tambo, meaning they have to carry 4 hours extra fuel. (I don't know if Bole can handle A380). And also, can JKIA generate enough pax to make it a profit maker, and if so, which route?

@GG, thought Ethiopia was building an airport that can handle A380-800 and it was commissioned in July 2013.

@GG the year round profitable route [full of pax] would be be Lagos - NBO - HKG ... the rest, I am not sure of!

@GG alternate airport for A380, just requires PCN sufficient. Note that Entebbe can accommodate the An-225 and so can Nairobi. The only issue is the twin jet bridges for pax to plane/deplane.

But it's really only EK that could bring in a 380 so making it pointless to make the bridges.

Though @Horton let's not confuse Investment vs "Patriotism" vs Value. And a glaring omission is the lack of ownership in KQ by KQ's Board, CEO, CFO, Pilots, Employees, etc
