He got the increase because he was sulking due to the fact Messi was earning more than him. Now Messi is sulking because Ronaldo is earning more than him and the Barcelona top brass have agreed in principal to give him another increment only months after they gave him the previous one that made him earn more than Ronaldo. Guess what will happen after pen is put to paper! Ronaldo will got into sulking mode... And the cycle continues...

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were desperate to win
There was little argument that the three short-listed players were the right selection. Yet neither Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi could bring themselves to vote for each other for fear that it could affect their own chances. Ronaldo went for Radamel Falcao, Gareth Bale and Mesut Ozil. Messi selected three Barcelona team-mates - Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Neymar. Ribery was not eligible to vote as he is not the captain of his country.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic emerges with respect
Another player always desperate to be recognised for his talents is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Yet he didn't let that, or club or country ties, cloud his judgement, picking Ribery, Messi and Ronaldo in his top three. Classy.

In Jan 2013 - Dec 2013, no one can argue that CR7 was the best player in the world, both club and country. Personally I would have felt for the guy had Messi had another supreme form year because when the two are their best, it is easier to vote for Messi for his humility. Very well deserved from a true professional...

@King G na Nakujua, when you know you're the best player in the world but have been losing out 4 years in a row to another best player in the world, I don't think it's gay to shed a tear when you finally beat your nemesis. Anyone can be allowed to cry for FINALLY beating the great Messi.

When I looked at that First XI, I could not find fault in a single player. Gareth Bale had a phenomenal year too but who can he replace between Messi and Ronaldo? Luis Suarez will be a contender for 2014 if he keeps his teeth in check but lack of CL football will undoubtedly be his downfall.

Ribery had to win the EPotY because of his supreme form in the CL. Atosheke.

No way any other coach would have beaten Jupp Heynkes to coach of the year!

Amazing that some players like Pele never played in Europe.

Thats why we should watch local football and ditch Euro football. Buy Kenya build Kenya.
