So, if they suspend the County government, then what? Won't the ReGaBu gang up against the Borana for shafting the county government? Is the Central government going to force the residents of Marsabit to vote in a particular way to accommodate a particular group, or will it simple take over the county?
If you stay ready, no need to get ready.

Iko kwa Constitution...just like devolution of health services. Neither of the two makes complete sense. But it's there and people voted for it en-masse.

We need to go through a long journey of Constitutional amendments. Think US of A took close to 200 years to pass and ratify 27 amendments!...although the first 10 took 2 yrs for ratification.

Disolving is a hard nut esp given that a commission must be set up to recomend to the president....

PART XIII – PROCEDURE FOR SUSPENSION OF COUNTY
GOVERNMENT
122. Grounds for suspension arising from conflict or war
The President may suspend a county government—
(a) in an emergency arising out of internal conflict or war; or
(b) in any other exceptional circumstances.

And that is what Dep. Pres. Ruto is basing his reasoning on, because the situation in Marsabit is political in nature (Tribalism to be realistic), while the situation in Nairobi, Kisumu, Kiambu, etc is plain criminal in nature whilst in some other places is religious terrorism.

So, for me, Ruto was not wrong, Marsabit County is experiencing a conflict, and suspension of the County Government is the way to go for now. Let the county be administered from Nairobi (by these people Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly ), until the warring tribes (Gabbras and Boranas) cool down.

Just the other day i saw a list of nominated persons for some jobs in that county, and i could not believe my eyes. ETI YOU MUST INDICATE YOUR ETHINICITY!!!!!! BOLLOCKS!

Nice post. Note for all broke Kenyans. Just apply for the job and indicate your ethnicity. Once you don't get the job, sue for discrimination. They'd have to prove that they didn't pass you up because of your ethnicity, particularly if you are even remotely qualified. That's why virtually EVERY employing body in any developed part of the world avoids collecting such information (along with religious beliefs, disability, orientation, etc). Why do Kenyans starve when they can feed themselves soooo easily?

Sometimes I think we just don't want to face some basic facts. Why are they killing each other? Has it got anything to do with the county government? Its been happening over the years way before county government came to being. Are there more effective local solutions that will work? Until we start addressing the root cause of these clashes, whatever action we take will amount to nothing!!!

FACT is that there is an underlying clan animosity but the central government, because it does not also control the county government has taken sides and is out to ensure that the county government actually fails. Could this be the case if the county government was also jubilee? No way. See Mandera which had similar problems!!!!

The problem there is politics of tribalism! Hence a political solution is what is needed to end this conflicts.

Marsabit is home to the Borana (Moyale), Gabbra (North Horr), Rendile (Laisamis), El-Molo (Loyangalani-Laisamis), Burji (Moyale and Saku township, they dont own land since they came to Kenya about 60-80yrs ago).
Marsabit is bigger than Rwanda and Burundi combined.

The conflicts are arising due to marginalization of Borana by the ReGaBu (Rendille, Gabbra, Burji) union that won the elections, hence sidelining the Boranas in most of the county appointments. ReGaBu are claiming that Boranas have Isiolo County all for themself.

The Governor (A Gabbra) however insist that his appointments are fairly distributed, but the problem is that Borana are about 35% in population and are demanding EQUITABLE and not EQUAL distribution of county jobs and resources.

reminds me of a county...sorry... country called kenya.

Not quite right. It is first of all collected COMPLETELY voluntarily, and secondly is not passed on to the employing entity. This info is collected and provided back to the employer AT AN AGGREGATE LEVEL after the roles have been filled so that they can provide statistics such as the number of applicants they have attracted, etc. That's why you can find articles / analysis saying that NASA has been able to attract minority applicants in a given year (the data is analysed and provided at a later stage). What's happening here is that they want the info provided to them as part of the shortlisting / selection process....hence obviously allowing for discrimination. I KNOW FOR A FACT that you are even trained as part of the interview process NOT to ask a lady if she's pregnant, congratulate her or ask when she is due even if she looks like she's about to collapse and drop quadruplets.

How can the national government solve this Yawa?-It was just wrong to have too many counties. Counties are just tribal enclaves. My position has been counties should reflect a country outlook.
