This was a useless threat bu Uhuru. It reminded me of the Moi days - he also used to give these kinds of warnings to civil servants, and see where that took us! Oh, I also remember: Uhuru was Moi's student in politics....
A president should never ever threaten to fire anyone for non-performance; he should simply fire them!
Uhuru should read the constitution, in particular, Article 132(2):
The President shall nominate and, with the approval of the National
Assembly, appoint,
and may dismiss —
(a) the Cabinet Secretaries, in accordance with Article 152;
(b) the Attorney-General, in accordance with Article 156;
(c) the Secretary to the Cabinet in accordance with Article 154;
(d) Principal Secretaries in accordance with Article 155;
(e) high commissioners, ambassadors and diplomatic and consular
representatives; and
(f) in accordance with this Constitution, any other State or public
officer whom this Constitution requires or empowers the President to appoint or dismiss.
There is no approval required for dismissal!!!
Oh, but again I remember, after the recent appointments fiasco, it is clear that he doesn't read the constitution.
Still, these threats only serve to weaken his command....and demoralize his team!
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.
