In my little small brain and tattered records i thought polio vaccine is effective for kids below 5yrs.Its not effective for people over 5 rys

Vaccines are effective for all ages. Polio is endemic in India, and considering their immunization rate is low (approx 375 million not immunised) it is wise to take the vaccine before going there.

The question I guess is, can I get polio when I'm past 80?

No! You are leaving on borrowed time +10.

Human beings of any age can get polio. It is a virus transmitted fecal-orally i.e. ingestion.
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

I travelled to India 3 yrs ago on some official business. And there were very many Kenyans on that plane. At the time, they only demanded a yellow fever certificate.

The vaccine protects the traveller from the polio risk in India. Only a very misinformed person would not want to be vaccinated before travelling. Its like someone refusing to take a typhoid vaccine when travelling to an area with a typhoid epidemic.

India is amazing. One of the most culturally diverse countries in the world and very touristic. All religions of the world are found in India plus they have tonnes of different languages, amazing sites and wonders. Everybody wants to go to India.

Its just a Polio Vaccine. And you can get one without having to kill anyone for it. Whats the big deal? smile
