Cotu secretary-general Francis Atwoli, who is a member of the National Social Security Fund board, alleged the fund’s managers approved Sh5 billion for the Tassia Estate housing project without proper procedures.

Opening the lid on what he described as the “scandal of the year,” Mr Atwoli alleged the fund’s acting chief executive, Mr Richard Lang’at, working in cahoots with the board of trustees, had approved Sh5.053 billion for putting up roads and a sewerage system in the new estate.

He said the tender committee met the “same day the purported note by Mr Lang’at was circulated” and awarded the contract.

“What a scandal,” he declared before adding: “This is the highest fraud of the fund I have ever witnessed since becoming a board member.”

Thika superhighway which is 40km cost 27B to build. The NSSF wants to construct roads within Tassia estate at 5B!
Damn, 5B is enough to build an estate plus the roads!

When Atwoli comes out fighting there is always an element of truth if not the whole truth. This is despicable Sad

The proposed 37 floor NSSF Hazina towers at the city centre is to cost 6B. So how can some road in tassia estate cost 5B?

I always wish that more public institutions are headed by our brothers from the lake since they are professional in their management and not greedy. But these RV fellows...they are very corrupt, gluttonous, only God will save us. It's back to the nyayo days....

Mr. Richard Lang'at is still the acting chief executive and already integrity issues are being raised about him. He intentions are clear for all to see (STEAL AS MUCH AS YOU CAN).
