Nairobi is one of the few commercial cities that are not in a major water way! actually Nairobi should be in lamu.

The Mogadishu you see on TV is very different from the real Mogadishu. Just visit the city sometime.

Some of the stats you see here should be taken with a pinch of salt. Mogadishu probably suffers the same disease as Kibera which had 1 million people until the last census confirmed 170K.

On the other hand, the war in Somalia could mean many people avoid the country side due to insecurity and move to the city.

That can't be right. There's no way Mogadishu can have more people than Cairo, Lagos or Nairobi. Not even close not even if they are talking population per sq/km.

Since there haven't been a normal census in Somalia since forever, now, lets try logics;
- Somalia population ~ 10M
- Mogadishu Population ~ +5.4M

So, ~54% of Somalians live in 1 city? Knowing Somali's clanism, i find this too difficult to believe.

Its either the population estimates are very wrong, or, the boundaries of Mogadishu City cover 30%+ of Somalia's land mass.
