India's deupty counsul general to the United States obtains work visa for female housekeeper saying she's to be paid $30 per hour. India's diplomat is arrested on Thu on visa fraud charges, as she dropped her daugher in school, for allegedly paying the nanny only $3 per hour. The 39 year old lady is held in a cell with drug addicts, strip searched, and eventually released after posting bond. India is furiousss, diplomatic warIndia government retaliates by summoning US ambassador and US diplomats, stripping them of identification cards and diplomatic benefits, removing security barriers outside US embassy in New Delhi. In fact, India government is so upset, they're looking for more revenge tactics... http://us.cnn.com/2013/12/17/po...mat/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

just beating their bonny chests, what would have been so hard arresting a us diplomat and throwing them into an Indian jail cell, I am sure that would have hit the americans proper.

She was freed on a $250,000 bail and she's facing up to 15 years for fraud and for making false statements. Her goose is cooked. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

But, does diplomatic immunity apply?Somebody outed the dep. consul general on the amount being paid. If you stay ready, no need to get ready.

Much as law is an arse, its never applied in vacuum, and that was rather stupid of the US authorities IMHO. India is a very strategic partner of the US, esp in the face of growing chinese influence. Nice reaction by India. TULIA.........UFUNZWE!
