When Garang once fired Riek Machar from the SPLA, Garang nearly saw dust! I'm surprised Salva Kiir learned nothing from that incident. Given the massive support Machar commands in the SPLA ranks, you dont fire him, you arrange a 'small' helicopter accident! With the reported disturbances in Juba, Salva Kiir will now know how tough a customer Machar is!

How and when do a people become mature enough? What if it's just that the internal pressure is too high?

its a problem that is difficult to fix esp when small arms abound in the population. ION, one of the measures of how mature a society is is the price people are willing to pay for political power. when politics is SEEN as a winner takes all situation where if you are not in power you have lost it all makes a country immature. its made worse by having small arms lying around.
