Currencies should not bear anybody's image. At least not in Africa or some asian countries.

The coin is commemorative, and
NOT intended for circulation. It
was commissioned specifically for
the 50th anniversary celebrations.
The nominal value of the coin is
KES.50 (Fifty Shillings), symbolizing
50 years of nationhood. Measuring
38.61 mm in diameter, the
rounded coin has fine mills on the
edges and is presented in proof
quality. It is minted using the
finest quality gold to symbolize the
significance of the anniversary
celebrations. On the obverse side,
the coin has the map of Kenya
minted in detail, with the flag
waving right in the middle, and the
words ‘FIFTY YEARS OF
INDEPENDENCE’ and ‘MIAKA
HAMSINI YA UHURU’ written on it.
The words ‘KENYA’ and the jubilee
years 1963 - 2013 are also
embossed right at the centre of the
map of Kenya. On the reverse side,
the ever unifying Kenyan coat of
arms is embossed, together with
the words ‘REPUBLIC OF KENYA’
and ‘JAMHURI YA KENYA’.
Limited quantities are available for
sale at the following prices.
Gold Coin - KES.200,000
