“The wage bill as at the last
budget was Sh458 billion,
accounting for 43 per cent
of the national budget.
Currently, the wage bill is
Sh630 billion. It has gone
up as result of devolution,”
she said. The current budget
approved by the National
Assembly is Sh1.4 trillion.

Devil-illusion should be done away with. kenya is small and can only qualify to be one county.

We've been speaking about this wage bill for ages now but nobody ever does anything about it. If anything, the political class are busy increasing their salaries.

I also have an issue with WSR and his lack of msimamo on this issue. Two weeks ago he spoke of improving salaries for police and civil servants now the same guy is telling us that thousands of civil servants will be retrenched. And let's not forget how he also helped increase the parliamentarians' salaries by a large margin.

No political will to fix this problem at all.

Kenya is living a lie, why lie! We are living beyond our means! Lets tame these elected officials, especially at the counties, then restructure county govts into reasonable structures closer to former municipalities in terms of operational costs.

The way many people are reacting to the whole wage bill indicates they didn't read the constitution or take time to understand its provisions. Ni kupiga kura tu then kelele later!!

You can retrench and then improve the salary of the remaining ones.
