Scaling down of Government wage bill is a welcome move.

This can be achieved through down sizing the pay roll and scaling down on perks.

In the past 2 weeks, thousands of young people have graduated from the universities. These are lawyers, doctors, vets, engineers, teachers, accountants, etc etc. And now the govt, the biggest employer, has frozen employment, telling them there are no jobs. Did i hear during the campaigns Uhuruto saying that 'Hakuna kazi' signs will be replaced by 'Kuna kazi' once these young people elect the jubilee team? What future do all these young people have under the jubilee govt? Isn't this a return of the dark Nyayo days when retrenchments and hakuna kazi was the norm?

Funny how people want a bloated inefficient civil service in addition to new County staff simply because their people are affected..when you say Kanjo should also be restructured kwani ni mbuzi zinafanya huko???

There are civil servants aged 60yrs and above who are on "contracts". Absurd to think that the entire country doesn't have a younger person to take over these jobs. Case in point, the Director of Medical Services.

It is said, if the wage bill (and poor service delivery, rampant corruption, poor customer service etc) does not considerably reduce after sending the 55yr olds and above on retirement, the PSC will retire the 54yr olds, and then the 53yr olds and so on.

Recruitment into the civil service, unless for essential services (police, doctors, nurses etc), has been frozen.
