The problem has never been the concept, it's the transparency in management and investment strategy for the fund to increase the interest earned for the retiree to get a better cheque than he would from the private pension funds. Don't forget that this fund will increase three-fold when we start contributing.

The increase probably means more money to eat...but as you have said transparency is key they should work on that...detailed reporting on how the money is managed is a must.

Those worried about the funds management should find comfort in the cabinet secretary for labour and social security. Bwana kazungu kambi is one of the most educated and competent ministers in the jubilee govt. His eloquence and ability to articulate complex matters is unmatched.

We are indeed lucky that the fund will be under the supervision of this genius of a minister.

I see no problem with 6%, but it should be optional if you can show evidence of belonging to an alternative scheme.

Exactly, some of us with the middle class salary are already contributing up to 15% of our salos to a reputable pension schemes.

With the inefficiencies and corruption at NSSF, I would rather stick with the alternative pension scheme.

What will you do when its made a law?

That was my thought that if bill doesn't allow a scheme of choice, then it should be sent back to MPigs.

The idea of retiring is old fashioned at least in a digital world. Like me, I don't see how I'll ever retire.

Plus, within a short time there'll be no death, so pension schemes will be faced out.

Essentially the bill should allow for those with other schemes to thrive as they traditionally perform better. The other with inferior schemes in terms of contribution should up their games or join the NSSF one. The major one here...Gover should now join NSSF i.e. contribute for all their employees.
