Has anyone watched that NTV expose? It just documents what 'we' already knew. All the same its sad, real sad..

Example: Recce Unit officers with highly invested training & guarding the President and other visiting VIPs to Kenya are earning a basic pay of Ksh 25,000 and a total of Ksh 35,000 inclusive of allowances??

Then the living conditions with upto 3 families in some instances sharing a room?

Given the harsh economic climate for them, there is no way crime will come down without the conditions and remuneration of the police being looked at.

That end was premature..

Give Onkari credit where it's due. He put numbers to the story we know. For all the hype did you know that the most respected and best trained unit, the only one trusted by the US Marines and Israelis to be part of their guard detail earns Ksh 25K basic pay and effectively 9-11k after deductions? If you can do this to the best unit, what of the regulars?

If we have to deal with insecurity from the boys in blue we have to incentivise.

Hehe..it's an absolute disgrace. After placing high tech cameras all over the CBD are these the guys who are meant to man them?

This feature cuts across also to the Health Sector.

Back to insecurity, to imagine we just checked into December, insecurity can only worsen..let's vet but once left with the good stuff recognize their basic human rights when it comes to their terms and conditions.

Since it's better to be feared than loved, the prince must ensure that his dogs don't just bark, but also bite.

And how does one breed fierce dogs? By pampering them?

Again raising police wages, drives prices up, and soon relative prices 'flatten up' leaving us with more demand for pay hikes.

No. It's not about wages. It's about politics.

I honestly do not think you have seen the conditions we are talking about.

The documentary was all mixed up....from the hype you'd think that the whole feature would be about the Recce squad but no....anyway, salary hike is not the answer, better working and living conditions is. As much as the govt has failed them, the police heads over the years have been the weakest link.

perhaps the clarification that needs to be done is that mali ya umma is not mali ya maskini. public resources don't belong to the poor! public resources are supposed to assist us do stuff that we cannot do individually!

Good for India, poverty is a state of mind and sometimes its really hard to change the mind of one who feels others should pay for his existence. The rocket will take 300+ days to get there, mmh...it will be there next year.

Those structures they live in and work out of look like they were built in the colonial era. It also looks like the leadership in the force only turns up at work to laze about and pick up a check at the end of the month. How else would one explain at the very least the poor training and working facilities or lack of proper exhibit and armory rooms? In the video when Ole Lenku says there will be an improvement in 100 days and then lists things, does he know how bad things are or that 100 days is just 3 months ... Or is he saying that because it sounds nice?
