@ All;

Am looking for support of 15m signatures to bring an amendment to the constitution in regards to the current structure of government.

It is too bloated and cannot be sustained without constraining the economy

I suggest

1. 47 governors - 1 per county

2. 47 - 94 MPs - 1 per county or can be increased but it should not be more than 2 per county - therefore maximum of 94 MPs in the whole country - if one is an elected man; in each county the next must be a nominated woman to be a women rep and vise versa - so we will have in each county - 1 nominated woman and 1 elected man or 1 elected woman and 1 nominated man MPs

3. Remove position of women reps position - because of point 2 above.

4 Retain current county reps and give them more responsibilities and allocate enough money from the national government ( Increase CDF allocation per county) for development purposes and get governor to be supervisor of the county.

This will increase development and do away with lazy MPs who just need to get in to eat.

It is duplication of roles to have from county

a senator; a governor; an MP or more than 1 MP; a women rep, a county rep. (5 people - offices in one county)

Current VAT act to be reviewed to remove all tax on imported raw material for local manufacturing and tax all finished products imported into the country - zero rate all exports outside Kenya

This is in order to create employment and encourage industrialization and growth of local manufacturing.

Anything that can be manufactured locally SHOULD NOT BE IMPORTED - should it be imported ... then CHARGE HIGH VAT.

Do not give jobs that can be done by Kenyans to foreigners.

Mnipe signatures zenu bwana ....

Let me be the first to append mine.

While at it, I feel we need to legislate what a 'constituency' is. I think we should explicitly define two things:
i. the maximum number of constituencies that Kenya should have.
ii. the expected number of people per constituency.

Thereafter, the constituency seats (or MPs) can be shuffled around depending on set popultaion changes as per census figures. Thus, if today people migrate from say Nairobi to Machakos counties, we can have a scenario where the no. of MPs in Nbi declines, that of Mkos increases but the total no. of MPs countrywide remains unaffected.

They should all remain, but their pay should be reduced to 1/4 of what each mp was earning. The constitution was passed amending it is another drama all together..heck Ruto asked people to vote no they dint listen, we just need to deal with the consequence ...slashing their salaries by law its possible.

This I support 200%

What is the practical role of the current constituency? Given that we have a county assembly with MCAs and a Senate with each count represented?

Sample this

just recently of the 300+ M pigs only 30 were present to debate very weighty bills why do we need 300

That aside imagine a scenario where each MPig was allotted 10min to contribute

It would mean a simple matter would take no less than 1 week (60 hrs) to debate

choices have consequences. We made this choice in 2010 and were told by the greens that voting yes would kill corruption and avail more funds for a bigger govt

If 'we' give you the signatures what will you give us in return? Or what will we get? Nothing.

I better keep my signature.

A certain Jeremiah Kioni warned us about the size of government as proposed in the constitution but we only wanted to listen to our political leaders.

If i were told to make only one amendment in the current constitution, I would cap the recurrent expenditure to 40% and wage bill to 25% of the budget. And this will tame the Kenyans greed.

maximum of 2 per county?this is disenfranchisement of the heavily populated areas. Why should Nairobi have 2 when Lamu has 1? The difference in population is huuge and MUST be mirrored in parliament. The role of parliament as I have said before is REPRESENTATION.

ONCE AGAIN, LEGISLATURES ARE NOT THERE FOR PURPOSES OF SENDING MEMBERS TO MATANGAS AND TO BUILD ROADS. REPRESENTATION IS THE WORD!
