At a time when the continent is faced with a myriad of problems, AU chooses to direct its energies, primitive or otherwise, towards saving two individuals who are sorting out - personal challenges.

The issues in DR Congo are being sorted by Western powers. Rebel Kony matter and now CAR situation remain thorny issues in Africa.

African Union. It replaced the Organization of African Unity. In name only.

Introducing red herrings such as who caused what problem sits very well with the usual African refrain of always blaming the next guy, the other guy, anybody else but self!

There is the matter brewing up in CAR - What AU doing about it.

Earlier this year there were problems in Mali. It took a European power to settle matters there. Where was AU.

As we blame the Western powers for anything and everything, our brethren keep on drowning in distant seas or starving in lonely deserts as they flee near dog life conditions in Africa for well run and working societies.

With the kind of leadership Africa has, it would be foolhardy to expect any positive change any time soon.

Ngothi nyeuthi iko chidaSad Down south, the most powerful African president has pinched 1.7B to fix a few nooks and crooks in his personal house. The same elected man, with multiple wives who took a shower after raping a woman. At home, we have a choir wishing us out of ICC. Africa is not a poor man's land.

AU depends on the power of any of the parties that are able to influence it for its agenda. We can't and shouldn't expect it to adhere to our categories of thought while we sit back and fold our arms.

we just talk and point at politicians. Let me tell you there are no miracle cures. Expecting politicians (people who don't know you) to change your life is irresponsibility per excellence. I tell you we are chasing the wind!! chasing the wind... misguided people!! the truth is the moment we start blaming people whom we don't know for our fate we are bordering on irresponsibility! let me ask - what have you done for yourself? fanya kitu... build something... do something that is more than paying taxes. excellence in what you do will take you places. tumedanganywa tukadanganyika!!! personally I think that the best gava can do is build roads and give locals tenders to build local capacity everything else is a decoy.

There is a grave problem in Central Africa Republic.

AU services are needed there more than anywhere else.

Irony is, AU remains indifferent to the situation there, leaving France to bring the matter to the Worlds attention as well as clamor for intervention to forestall matters from growing to a humanitarian catastrophe.

Nandwa the AU will only act when they are called for another party at Ethiopia.

Next time the topic will be banning all western media for reporting bad things in CAR.

The only people who take AU seriously are njumbiree.Even the AU doesn't take itself seriously. Probably removed the O in OAU to stop rhyming with Obama.

That Addis bash is expected soon - thrown by Kenya

Quote:
After the meeting, many African delegates indicated that they had never heard about the state of Kenyan law on head of state immunity and that they might have taken a different stand on the matter if these facts were known.

In a meeting called by the African group to review their performance at the session, states told Kenya that they had tried their best but the head of state immunity proposals never stood a chance. It was agreed that another extra-ordinary AU meeting be convened in Addis Ababa, to provide a mandate that would enable the AU to engage directly with the ASP, with a view to calling for an extraordinary meeting of the ASP, which would pass the amendments, whose notice would have matured.
