Would you know what the % of Wanjiku holding this share is?

Kenya-Re Shareholding as at Sept. 2013
Foreign shareholding = 20,865,001 shares = 2.98%
Local Individual = 106,182,045 shares = 15.17%
Local Institutions = 572,902,022 = 81.85%

TOTAL = 699,949,068 shares = 100%

Asante

Also in the list of top companies it has portfolios is Safaricom.
Investment Income normally gives them a good income.
next year they are to break ground in putting up a commercial building in the Upper Hill land

Kenya Re doesn't really benefit from change in share prices in terms of EPS...

The rising portfolio only affects NAV here due to their accounting style!

So we've bought into a 'unit trust' whose quoted price is lagging its under-lying investments?? Hallelujah!

OK. This should also provide for a good read on the outlook for re/insurance in Africa. V/Interesting: ZEP-RE Africa Outlook Brochure http://issuu.com/outlook...outlook_zep-re_brochure

What caught my eye after Takaful insurance, is the emergence of infrastructure insurance. Extrapolating that Africa wide and we're talking tons of opportunity indeed.

They should sell out.

@VituVingiSana;The stake/number of shares is not that significant as the majority of the stake is held by the saccos.
I don't see the reason to sell out as CIC is the only insurance company that makes underwriting profit
