Adding Airbus to the fleet will be costly to train/type rate new pilots and ground operations to handle the new platform.
Even then, the only commercially efficient planes that can cross the Atlantic to North America are 777LR, 787 and 747 - all Boeing planes.
The A340 also can but, its a guzzler and Airbus stopped production and will soon stop support. There is a long list waiting for the A350, meaning KQ cant get hold of one for five or more years. The A380 is simply implausible for a carrier of KQ's size.
