The government has directed all public servants travelling by air to use Kenya Airways (KQ), a move that will most likely save it money on tickets procured at concessionary rates and boost the national carrier’s passenger numbers.

Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure Michael Kamau on Friday said that the cabinet had approved the directive and that the government was in the process of securing the services of travel agents who will help the government obtain the tickets.
Pesa Nane plans to be shilingi when he grows up.

@Horton, I used a 772 from LHR in August and wouldn't exactly say the kite was in great shape. My personal screen was hardly responsive to touch, my seat wobbled wildly during takeoff, the under carriage made a deafening noise as it retracted - not exactly a nice user experience, unless you gauge a/c fitness solely by the soundness of the engines.

Could be the rolls royce trent 800 engine's noise, experienced in most 777 it matters where you sit so many complaints about it i wonder if they are working on noise reduction

Kwani? It made for an exciting flight. Otherwise, you would be bored & just go to sleep! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

ok IFE has had issues however, i understand a new IFE is coming very soon. Used to be rockwell, they went bust, i believe they have sourced a new provider to do a retrofit. The "deafening" noise.....depending on your previous experiences.....i would say this is a good thingLaughing out loudly

My airworthiness perspective is from a pilots point of view..... Thats not just power plant, but also airframe, interior etc.....

please fly the american carriers to know what a tired B777 feels like!

@murchr.....RR engines and GE engines, the only 2 777 engine suppliers have a similar noise output in terms of decibels. The B787 is a tad bit more quieter. There obviously can't be pin drop silence in the cabin, again, i would be extremely anxious if i was in an airplane with no engine humming at all

Ethiopian to steal Kenya Airways' limelight yet again?

28OCT2013

Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) could see the much-vaunted and publicized introduction of its first B777-300(ER), 5Y-KZZ (msn 41818), pre-empted by that of rivals Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa). According to AirlineRoute, Ethiopian Airlines' first B777-300(ER), ET-APX (msn 42101), is scheduled to operate Addis Ababa to Guangzhou on November 15, 2013, a full four days ahead of Kenya Airways' B777-300(ER) début on the same route from Nairobi.

Doesn't matter. A lot of those who fly to Guangzhou are Kenyans who are happier to board direct flights from NBO. No lost luggage, missed connections, better/shorter times. Of course, it depends on the fare too!

@obiero - Looming breakout after flatlining at 10 - 10.50 range for a while.

UPDATE: I've just snooped at their website and seen that H1 will be released on Nov 13th. Now I see the price pattern...

This thing has a habit of sky rocketing.. It may as well leap upto 30bob upon release of generally acknowledged positive results in next two weeks. One thing everyone should be certain is that KQ will report vastly improved figures

The 1st hurdle is to regain 14/- and overcome that rights issue price resistance. Then 17 - 20 range is another tough zone then 25 before the 30 target can be hit. It's a long way to go towards 30 and highly ambitious even for next year.

Kq once gave me a 50% loss. I laugh when i remember. Should i get back at this loss by trading KQ shares. some sort of revenge you know what. I don't believe in the company at all, but this might give me some well deserved closure.

The emotional cocktail absorbed on losing trades can blow your account to zero especially in volatile markets like futures and FX.

@Aguy - wachana na revenge. Mr Market will crash you if you think that way...
