I said so, but do I say.

Kenyan media is full of prostitutes, I wonder why they are complaining. Spend an hour at Giggles and see for yourself.

I have a feeling he has a stake in the bill himself. He was very bitter last weekend asking why the media was so inhuman. He is wielding the big stick.Remember his family was affected and according to him the media were mocking him.Lets wait and see though
That said,I fully support the law.A country can never prosper without strong laws.

The media can mislead everyone, it is the same as the poisons control bill, we cannot give everyone freedom to drink poison, or the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, we can not give freedom to individuals to detonate nuclear weapons, freedom goes with responsibility, as much as possible, as long as reporting is factual let the media remain free, but where they support deliberate lies peddled by al-shabaab, at the risk of national security, and evidence can be adduced to show that the media is ready to SELL a lie for PROFIT in exchange for KENYA, or national security, then the TRUTH must be safeguarded by government, it is NOT the duty of government to safeguard lies or we accept anarchy!

what people don't know is that if the National Assembly wants this thing to pass it will pass even if the president rejects it. they require 2/3rds or something. people should know where the seat of real power is.

1. Is it draconian because it imposes high penalties for misreporting?
2. Is it draconian because the media have said it is?
3. Is draconian because the media were never involved in setting up the bill ?

Maswala nyeti....d'oh! d'oh!

who remembers story ya 'Kabuga'? then Daniel Muthee Ngeera shows up on TV and says
Quote:
I am not Kabuga, I am not a Rwandan. I am a Kenyan and a Meru for that matter but the photograph shown on television and published in the newspaper is mine.

Did the journalists apologize? what did 'self regulation' do? what happens when the media goes rogue? while I really don't want Gava to be a regulator of the media - I want a responsible media!

Here is the Amendment Bill: http://www.cickenya.org/...b04f0abdc0656328a77163f

And this is the original Act that it is amending: http://www.cck.go.ke/reg...ons_Act_xCap-2_411Ax.pdf
